Heh, mine are better.
Btw, does repairing robes:
1. Cost much?
2. Worsen the stats somehow?

Damn, what a robes. Do you think it's still possible to make ones with stats like that, or was there some cap nerf in the meantime?

No, hers are splendor robes.
They can go higher than normal ones.

Yes, she is.

Join Serenwilde, at least we have Shorlen, an active Tailor who doesn't charge excessively, and Exarius, who charges a bit steeper.

I do tend to charge more than Shorlen. Last I knew, I also tended to make things that lasted longer.
Regardless, you have a skewed sense of what things are worth from taking advantage of the craftsmen desperate to see their skills put to use at any cost.
I could have made more profit and a touch of experience just by ratting during the time you wasted not getting your cloaks mended/replaced the other day, than any amount of profit margin you would have even considered paying me for the completed job.
I've sunk many millions of gold into my shop, skills, cartels, and unique designs that I am never going to see back, no matter how much I charge. Anyone who doesn't feel like compensating me for my time at least is perfectly welcome to go looking for a patsy who actually has time to waste.
Daganev2005-11-18 19:36:27
When I first started, I used to charge people bashing time. Meaning, while I forged they went bashing, and gave me the spoils.

First, as to this actual topic, I not only found greatrobes, but I've since officially decided to become a warrior. So this topic is doubly moot.
On the general principle of tradeskills, I agree with someone in some thread that said they were a community service. Unless you are prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time at something like Herbs, in which case you are *just* making money, not experience or RP or anything, you're going to operate at a loss in your tradeskill. Best case, you have a friend who paid for a shop and you get room in the shop, even then it's almost nothing. So you take up a tradeskill because you want to help your friends/guildmates/citymates, or because you want to create neat stuff and make the world more detailed. I think the minor game-mechanical benefits at the trans tradeskills bears this out -- if trades were really lucrative, people would take them up without having to gain a sip bonus or what have you. The concept of kegs/cubes bears it out even further. Less profit for small-time alchemists/enchanters, but much more benefit to the communities.

Even if you own a crappy shop you still make a profit. I don't know what you people are talking about.
Anumi2005-11-18 19:52:15
I was mostly talking out of my ass, now I think of it. I'm mainly remembering Achaea, where shops are like, hojillions of gold and you'll never make that much back if you run the shop till your character is 150.
So I amend to say that, outside of a shop, tradeskill is mostly a community service rather than a huge money-maker.

Ekards shop in Celest sells some, both enchanted and non-enchanted.

I was away for a while, in a fit of disgust, and came back to having had my greatrobes decay. Since coming back, I have never once found anyone on market willing to sell me greatrobes, nor a single set of them in any shop in Glom, Magnagora or in the manses available to me. Now maybe all the tailors are in Celest and Serenwilde, so I can't get to their shops or manses, but it's annoying! Where are you, tailors! If you're out there and I'm missing you, put up an ad so I can do mail order IC!

Solution 1:Join Celest or Serenwilde
Solution 2:Become an Ebongaurd/ Ur'Guard
Solution 3:Become a Tainted Tailor and make millions seeing as you'll be the only one

1. Mending costs 1k base, from what the last tailor told me
2.armor stats, no, rich-poor scale, yes, eventually they will become treadbear, which is REALLY good for begging, and bad for all other influence tactics, and when they become treadbear you can't mend them anymore (happens once they are mended like.. oh what is it 6 7 something times? I'm not sure I've never had a greatrobe get that far, I useally just forget to mend them and they go poof)

How much does it cost for enchanting robes, like armour-wise? Seems that tailoring is forging for the magic users (cause of the splendor robes like fullplate).
