The title says it all.
But let's divide it into two sections:
-Which one is better for PvP?
-Which one is better for PvM?
And specify if you are also talking about race, guild, anti/non-arti, ect when making suggestions...otherwise, treat it as the skills by themselves outside of their normal context.
Ideas?

I can tell you right now that they're all worthless for PvM. Don't consider them for that purpose, as they won't serve in that capacity.
PvP? I don't know, I don't play that game. Perhaps the others can help you?

Wait, wait. Isn't that forcefield thing awesome for PvM, if you have a ton of charisma?

Nope, Telekinesis is -very- useful against mobiles. You can be very very tanky.
As for pvp... all have they advantages and disadvantages, personally I like heartburst in telekinesis but dreamweaving just sounds fun because you can run around in dreambody doing mean things.
Ashteru2005-11-14 22:51:18
Pfff...Dreamweaving is most fun for the embedded motes.
The running around and doing mean things is just a plus.

I suppose it's possible if you want to risk burnout (and thus experience loss) and have more Charisma than Constitution. I still don't think that justifies choosing the entire set though.
'Course, I don't have any room to talk, considering the reasons I chose my tertiary skill. Heh.

Yeah, Xenthos. Great for tanking Supernals, I hear.
Overall, I believe telekinesis is the best for PvP. Forcefield and animate dagger alone make it amazing. If you know what you're doing, though, telepaths can be very dangerous, and a dreamweaver in their demesne is scary as hell.

Telekinesis is best all-around IMO. However, the other two can be quite good, particularly a Dreamweaving Geo. Dreamweaving isn't quite as good if you're an Aqua.
Stangmar2005-11-15 00:24:41
Hmmm, i hear Telekinesis is good. I'm a telepath, and hidden afflictions ARE fun, but i've thought about changing to Telekinesis.

I'm guessing you're talking about a Geo (or any demensing class) in their demense, right? So, how does that compare to the other skills?
Are you saying that there are more or better Dreamweaving/Geomancer combos than Telepathy/Geomancer or Telekinesis/Geomancer?
And what part of what you are saying applies to PvP and PvM?
Ashteru2005-11-15 19:45:52
Actually I'd say that a dreamweaving Druid has it best, since he can add several more afflictions to it, plus, after a while, they'll fall asleep and won't be able to keep up the curing, and getting sapped while sleeping is....bad.
Hajamin2005-11-15 20:23:00
One thing I don't think many, or any, of you have realized... Telepathy is Telekinesis's biggest problem.

No, I'm saying that I think Telekinesis is the best for Aquas and very good for Geos, and Dreamweaving can be about as good for Geos (because of embedded blackout mote + chasm).
Telekinesis is also the best for PvM because of forcefield, which converts health damage into ego damage.

Mages pick telekinesis.
Druids pick dreamweaving.
Cool kids pick telepathy.
Done.

Druids pick ecology. I love transmigration, and with lightning, I can hit you with a smudge, and invoke nullify before it burns, and if that's not good enough, I can generally manage a berserk fetish, double morphite or charybdon.
Sobran2005-11-17 06:41:53
Heh. I've done more things to scare the living bejebus out of people with Dreamweaving than I can even remember.
Anumi2005-11-17 13:05:25
So, being as how I've been idle a while, someone give me the gist... telekinetics can fling poisoned daggers at people, do the burstvessel->heartburst thing, and get a bit more tanky? Plus I know they have the throat/leglocks, and the "throw people way up into the air" thing. Telepaths I know nothing about... reading threads it seems like they get to do a lot of hidden afflictions, plus the help files talk about some kind of "mindnet" which sounds interesting if not mad useful. And ecologists get the familiar thing, which gives them a lich-type deal, plus extra toxin attacks, and these "smudges" which do extra things in combat... don't know what else.
Just wondering cause I have no idea. Not looking for skill lists or anything, just y'know, the gist of what I might be up against.
Edit: I know what Dreamweaving does, cause I've had it, though apparently they've added an instakill.

Mindlinks are just covens basically, you've been a wiccan right? And ecology gets all that plus charms (damage reduction for chosen types) basically. Telekinetics also have things like limbbreaks and kai choke. And telepaths do have hidden afflictions, including a couple new ones, plus some ego damage attacks and an ego instakill. And force.
Anumi2005-11-17 14:20:51
Wow. It's like they took monk telepathy from Achaea and made it useful.
