I travelled overseas a lot in the past, mostly to countries that speak English as a first language (USA, Europe, etc). It's so irritating when I speak to people on the train/bus/tour group and people are like, "You speak English rather well." Are they implying that I'm supposed to be unable to string together a proper sentence in English just because of my country/race? Or that I should have a funny accent? *growls*

The worst I get is people going "Oh my god, you're an Aussie?" but yanks tend to say it like ausssssie rather than Ozzy (like ozzy osbourne, same sound) to which i reply something smart ass like, bloody hell no or something else like that..
