Wrong, Daganev. The Taint is the Light polluted by Kethuru's touch. The Taint did not come into being until Kethuru touched Shallamar. There is no reference to the taint in the history of the Vernal Wars. In fact, there is this line...
...which infers that the taint had not yet manifested in Lusternia.
First there was only light. Kethuru touched it, it became taint. Now it has touched nature and become wyrd, perhaps the 'perfect' essence.

Munsia2005-11-16 05:57:44
How do you figure wyrd is perfect?
Unknown2005-11-16 05:58:23
Because it is the culmination of light (creation), taint (destruction), and nature (balance?).
Astraea2005-11-16 06:01:50
But Wyrd isn't Taint and Nature. It's formerly tainted nature, touched and changed by Viravain and Isune. So it isn't just nature and taint, as that was what was before. Thus in my view--Not taint at all. Like for instance.
Ape -> Human.
Humans aren't considered apes, but their own new and unique species. Might some things be shared? Yes, on a superficial level. IE, ability to stand on two legs and walk upright, thumbs, etc. (In Glom's case, consider the ugly trees and messed up animals) But deeper down, it is clearly not the same.

What are you talking about? Do you mean that you consider humans apes? I'm confused. Maybe if you could give you know. Words that elaborate on what you mean instead of you know. Worthless jibs..anyway. Humans are their own species. That's how it is. And I liken that to Taint and Wyrd.
Shiri2005-11-16 06:08:17
Yeah, but humans are still apes. Just like gorillas, gibbons, chimpanzees and orang-utans are all apes, but they're "their own species" too.

Guido, the "taint" comes from the Astral plane. It went from Astral, to Shalamar to Earth, and then jumped to Prime.
Munsia, Because both Viravain and Isun could only either see taint or not see taint they aimed for the forest and hit the taint instead. Meaning, They -thought- they were aiming for the forest, but infact they were aiming at the taint which they could not see (or could only see). It would be like if you were wearing red colored glasses, and there was a piece of red film in front of a picture. You aim your gun at the picture, however you hit the red film instead. So whatever they planned on doing to the forest (i.e. make it more beutifull and give it "more power") they instead did to the taint ripping the taint apart and leaving Wyrd in its place. This would be like shooting your paint gun at the red film and paiting it all blue. Thus the painting remains the same, however the red film is now a blue film.

Subj: The Wyrd of Glomdoring
Mysterious black roses appeared throughout the Glomdoring Forest,
pricking the fingers of those who plucked them from the ground. These
roses were absorbed into the cocoon spun by the ebonglom wyrm, and which
contained the Great Spirits of Mother Night and Crow, and the goddesses
Isune and Viravain, as well as the wyrm itself. For several months
members of the Glomdoring commune fed the roses to the cocoon, until
suddenly, something emerged from the cocoon. Obviously sprung from the
ebonglom wyrm, it was a creature with enormous wings and a presence that
shook the Basin.
As the creature rose up into the air, it spread its enormous dark wings,
revealing the Great Spirits of Crow and Mother Night and the two
goddesses, each now with their own body, entwined nakedly around each
other. The Great Spirits of Glomdoring took the skies to flank the great
creature, while a weeping Isune fled to the Havens, crying for
forgiveness. Meanwhile, the soft laughter of the newly restored Viravain
resonated through the air as she mounted the great beast.
As they rose into the sky, the great creature circled over the forest,
drawing clouds of taint up above the canopy of the trees. Thousands of
fae appeared below whispering and chanting in a frenzy. As the creature
consumed the taint, the taint was transformed into something wholly
knew, something the fae called the Wyrd of Glomdoring.
Scholars later discovered that 'wyrd' was a fae word that could be
loosely translated to mean "a powerful event which changes the course of
the Fates". Viravain and Isune together created the Wyrd of Glomdoring,
made manifest by the Ebonglom Wyrdling, which had emerged from the
cocoon. Apparently, the goddesses had attempted to recreate the forest
itself, Isune who tried to instill beauty and Viravain who tried to
invoke greater power. However, because the visions of the goddesses were
warped by Kethuru, they did not touch the forest at all, although they
individually thought they were doing so. Instead, their magics only
touched only the taint itself.
Thus, the Wyrd of Glomdoring came to be, which transformed the taint
itself. What has sprung in its place is nothing anyone could have
imagined or foreseen. The word "Wyrd" now only means one thing to the
fae: that which was once the taint which now rests in Glomdoring, where
the earth itself is wyrden and the repercussions are only just beginning
to be felt.

Anyway... This totally messes up my plans, or enhances them.
I wanted to get furloch to come to Glomdoring so I could feed him full of beasts and turn him into a miniwyrm and get a pet so I could ride upon a wyrm of my own. Was trying to figure out how to get it wings, but now I think that would just be evil to do since Viravain has the creature as a mount now....
Oh well, guess they saved me 700 credits. Especialy since I can't even get hold of Furloch.

Well since Glomdoring is not really tainted anymore.. what's the communes stance on the Taint now?

Means you're still allies and nothing changed? Well, saves me the trouble of trying to get unenemied.
Sad too though, that wyrm event would open quite a few possibilities.
Gregori2005-11-16 08:54:53
It would take a bit more than this event to make Seren and Glom settle differences. I am not saying this isn't a step in the right direction, but Serenwilde right now is trying to determine if this Wyrd is as threatening, more threatening, or less threatening than the Taint. All we know for certain is, it is something we have no idea about, and that Gib is now the Yudi of Lusternia. *grin*

Does Magangora have a Mystical Ravenwood-allready-been touched by a seal/multiple gods/kethulu. and Night/Crow.
From those unquie circumstances I don't think there is anyway that Viravain and Isune could just hop over to Mag and do this, the Cities Nexi are nothing like the Ravenwood tree, and the Ravenwood itself, in it's current form is changed in ways that our mortal players can't understand, compaired to the origonal "design" for them from Queen Maeve.
So... unless Maeve hops over to Mag, destroys the Megalith, and uses it as fertilizer for a new Great Tree, and then constrips the help of Kethulu, Viravain(twice), Raezon, and Isune, and 2 Greater Spirits are then created and tied to the new MegaTree, I don't see it happening.

What I am curious about is how the Ebonguard plan to exit their guildhall when Gib takes flight.. I mean he is now like a Marine transport plane..
"ok guys.. altitude is 20,000 feet! Prepare for air strike on Serenwilde!"
*imagines Murphy crawling out the back end and flapping his faeling wings as he decends on the Serenwilde*

There should now be a new skillset for Ebonguard which they can take instead of athletics called "Parachuting."
