The Wyrd and Glomdoring

Wow... I wasn't here for the event, but I've seen a few logs and heard from some people. ~_~

Anyways, I don't want to rush into anything. An alliance with the Serenwilde is now somewhat more viable, but we can't just pull one out of thin air. There are other issues that still need to be decided.

I should note that allying with the Serenwilde would drive off a number of our fighters - Murphy, Eiru, Ethelon, to name a few. None of those people are willing to fight against Magnagora, afaik.

At the same time, we'd have Magnagora bashing on us, and a number of Seren (as you can tell just from reading this thread) are still very hostile.

So, in conclusion... let's just wait it out and see what happens. Maybe this is only the beginning.

First there was only light. Kethuru touched it, it became taint. Now it has touched nature and become wyrd, perhaps the 'perfect' essence.

Bzzzt, WRONG! The Taint isn't corrupted Light, it's the corrupted essence of Shallamar/Earth, which has nothing to do with the Light; I guess you can call it Fate or something. As for the Wyrd, it's not Nature + Taint + Light; it's Taint changed into something else by Viravain, Isune, Night and Crow. It's different, and not necessarily better.

And now for some more random conjectures about what is going to happen, just so I can pretend to be smart by quoting the few ones I get right after it's all over.:

-The Taint was something that wasn't in the Fates' original plan. The Wyrd was a consequence of the Taint and is even more messed up; I expect the Fates to be involved in this.

-There'll be conflict between Magnagora and Glomdoring, since Glom is going to hate the Taint now, and Mag is going to hate the Wyrd.

-Therefore, Glomdoring will go and find itself a backbone, so it doesn't end up like Celest.

-Viravain is going to have a lot of fun. Isune is going to spend the next few weeks saying 'woe' and feeling horrible guilt. Possible suicide attempt. Lisaera is going to be angry and confused. Estarra will be mildly amused, but she's mildly amused at anything short of a seal breaking (Or Narsrim shouting after she tells everyone to stop shouting tongue.gif ) Elcyrion and Lacostian will be neutral about it. Raezon will try to use its power for Himself. Fain isn't going to like it.

-Verithrax is going to argue A LOT about how the Wyrd shouldn't be attacked and hated like the Taint. (I'm pretty sure of this one! biggrin.gif )

-Since this started with the first Kethuru event, it's probably a long term chain of events that'll last for months, maybe years.

EDIT: Capable posting now!

Some Serens are hostile against anything non-Seren, doesnt matter if theres an alliance or not.

I'm tired of you anti-combat hippies.  Go get a damn job and let everyone else fight, kthnx.

Munchkin! I'm tired of being in a state of siege ALL THE TIME, too. Think Of The Children.

I'm tired of everyone hating each other's organization for the sake of hating it. I prefer hate on a much more individual basis, like it was on Aetolia. And I'm learning how to fight! *brandish*

But generic hate doesn't lead to people hating each other OOCly, too. For instance, Erion and Ibaesha hated each other, and what they stood for. And that actually drew Ibby and I closer together. tongue.gif If we hated each other for the color of our hair, I'd prolly never be so close to my bibby-Ibby. happy.gif
Xenthos2005-11-16 18:16:05
Let me make a modification to that:

"But generic hate doesn't necessarily lead to people hating each other OOCly, too."

If all you see is the generic hatred, both IC and on the forums, odds are it will at the least give you a very negative impression of that person.

Has anyone even thought of the possiblity of this "event" having nothing to do with alliances?

Viravain and Isune both had vision problems. Now they don't. And Isn't Kethuru 'warping' the very definition of taint? Since nobody ever saw Astral before kethuru was there, how would we know the difference between tainted or untainted. Aslo Magnagora can not just meld any "tainted" location. It has to be a tainted earth location. So saying that Magnagora can't automatically meld astral means nothing.

Taint is also not "twisted Shalamar"... taint is twisted shalamar, twisted earth, twisted prime, twisted race. This is why many elder gods have 0 opinion on the taint. Auskelis, Shikari, Elcyrion probabbly now Isune also.

As for Isune running off and crying. Wouldn't you be sad and feel guilty if you were used by Viravain without your will to do something when Viravain was never really trapped?
Richter2005-11-16 19:28:10
No one said this had anything to do with alliances. However, it might cause people to look at the current ones.
Daganev2005-11-16 19:43:24
Well a few people sound like they are saying... "hmm the admin are trying to push us a certain direction, but I won't do it!" or "Yay finally we can be pushed in the direction I've always wanted"

I don't think they're trying to push anyone anywhere, it just opens a few possibilities. Which may or may not be explored, it's our choice.
Daganev2005-11-16 19:52:37
Right, thats the point I was trying to make. But I think these things should be explored in game, not outside of it. It ruins the fun for everybody else. (like those folks who don't troll the forums)
Unknown2005-11-16 20:45:28
I think Xenthos and Daganev summed it up quite nicely. thumup.gif
Archthron2005-11-16 21:19:10
I for one agree that we would benefit from creating new dynamics within Lusternia. And in my opinion the best way to recreate these commune-v-city sentiments is to have Auseklis (of someone like him) return. Not only would this allow the Serenwilde to have a more diverse opinion base (they have had only 1 god for Ages), but would also provide a place for Serens and Gloms with anti-city sentiments to congregate. You know I'm right.
Shamarah2005-11-16 21:56:58
About the "new" Glomdoring taint:

(The Star Council): Hajamin says, "It's the "pretty taint"."

(The Star Council): Hajamin says, "Think of it this way... Your wife and her
sisters come over to decorate your house."

(The Star Council): Hajamin says, "It's still your house, just covered in
flowers."
Cairam2005-11-16 22:01:27
Yay for pretty taint!

Unknown2005-11-16 22:08:37
I believe this will have far more implications that just 'omg who can be hav alliance wit now?".
Astraea2005-11-16 22:13:53
It is so not the pretty taint. Shhh. I want to ally with Serenwilde >.<

Wyrd = Wonderful and Natural thing.
Unknown2005-11-16 22:18:54
Also, could 'geocast defoliation' be removed now? When Geomancers try to use geocast taint in a Wyrded location they get 'this location is already tainted!', and have to defoliate just like before. If the Wyrd is so different, I imagine regular taint would be enough to push it out of the area.

Also, they have to defoliate even if the area is not forest. In 'wyrded natural underground' rooms, for example, even though they have not been touched by Blacktalon, and the room desc shows the area as being a wasteland.

EDIT: And no, I haven't been tainting bits of Glomdoring to experiment with this. unsure.gif
Richter2005-11-16 22:39:13
I thought Glomdoring was untainted now. None of this "it's different" stuff, we actually do not have taint in the forest anymore, right?
