Alright, i'm an Imperianite, and i've tried Lusternia a few times but never managed to get hooked, something just never pulled me in, might be because i always tried the Nihilists and Geomancers. I read the Psionics thing in the newsletter though, and made an Aquamancer, for some reason i'm actually getting quite attached this time.
So i was wondering about some equivalents, if anyone who plays or has played Imperian can help me iron out some niggling thoughts.
First of all, is there an equivalent to an owl tattoo? for those who dont know, it basically gives you level 1 experience gain bonus.
What are the equivalents for the herbs in Imperian versus the herbs here?
Is there a map for zMUD's automapper, that isnt sold for credits?
Is there any source of skill information/lists? Now i've heard from searching that it is very frowned upon to reveal them, despite other IRE games having theirs posted on websites without a problem as long as they arent newly released skills, i could see it making sense if there werent logs and in depth discussions on skills and how they work all over this forum, so personally i cant see a problem with having the names of skills in a list, but either way, it's your game and you have the right to be secretive.
Is invoke pentagram Lusternia's equivalent to "touch shield"?
That's all i can think of right now

The blessing of Harmony is eqiuvalent to the owl tattoo, HELP KARMA for a lot of information.
Couldn't accurately swap the herbs around.
I don't believe there's a free zMUD map.
Evoke pentagram(highmagic) and invoke circle(lowmagic) are the equivalents of "touch shield", while the equivalent of a hammer tattoo is Evoke void(highmagic) and invoke nullify(lowmagic)

If shield tattoos are the same in imperium as in achaea, then yes, pentagram is the same but everyone has unlimited uses (it's called 'circle' for lowmagic users).
I can give you indepth lists for all common skillsets if you'd like, just ask me in a PM. Public postings of them are frowned upon, but I've never heard anyone complain about privately shared lists

There's no universal "owl tattoos", apart from the Harmony blessing. LowMagic users can invoke autumn and get a bonus for 1 lusternian day. I seem to remember Moon (and thus Moondancers and some Serenguard) has some coven skill but, this would be memories from like, public beta and has probably changed.
Herbs and other cures are really hard to port over. It's not just a mapping. Some things which were herb cures are now salve/potion cures. Plus you have the purgatives which cure things as well. For examply stupidity is still an herb cure: pennyroyal. Paralysis is no longer "cured" at all, you just FOCUS BODY, which is a skill that everyone has in Discipline, though it gets faster if you learn more Discipline. There's a fairly good list at HELP CURELIST, it may not be 100% up to date, but I know it's good with the basics.
If you go to the MSN groups thingee, there's a list of all the common skills, which hasn't changed all that much since public beta. Other than that I'm sure people who are at their homes can PM you a list or something. I thought I remembered hearing that the aquas had a lot of skillists in their GHELP, but I've never been an aqua so that might be a rumor or they might have deleted it since then.
Good luck. I actually like Lusternia a lot, and keep returning to it over Imperian/Achaea, even though I "quit" in disgust every once in a while because of overzealous players.

Experience enhancing abilities and skills:
- Humans have a level 2 racial experience bonus. It constitutes roughly a 20% bonus.
- The Karma Blessing of Harmony (relatively easy to get and maintain if you bash) gives a 10% bonus.
- The Moon ability "Harvest" gives a 10% bonus (requires a Coven of 3 people, costs 5p per member, fades at dawn).
- Lowmagic: Autumn gives 10% experience bonus for one Lusternia day (one irl hour) per Lusternia month (one irl day). Fades at the next midnight.

I wonder how much of all that stacks. A Human Moondancer or Lowmagic Serenguard could have ZOMGSUPERBASH 50%! That'd be one heck of a bashing trip.

It might cap at a level 3 bonus, roughly 30%.
Iridiel2005-11-17 18:46:12
I think there're caps and usually they're at level 3 for most abilities, so we can asume this is the case here (30%).
On the other hand, we can get a little human moondancer and get her all those bonus and see what happens

I'd love to see it. Could you imagine how quickly they get to demigod?

About... 10% faster on average than others? That's not THAT significant. You can't keep up Autumn, and Harvest requires you to find two other people willing to burn five power every IC day. Keeping up a permanent harmony blessing means you're taking time from bashing to quest for karma, which gives less xp over time.
Soll2005-11-17 20:05:26
Keeping up three blessings is easy, Shorlen, for an advanced basher. Even without Astral I could maintain three blessings and 100% karma, when I felt the need. It doesn't take time away from bashing to keep up any blessings, due to the karma from offering.
Diamante2005-11-17 20:33:56
There is no cap on the experience buffers allowed. I am pretty sure that the caps only apply to balance and regenerative abilities.
Aye, level 2 (20%) for humans, autumn is level 1 (10%) harmony is level 1(10%) and harvest is level 1(10%)
Blessings are a wonderful part of lusternia in my opinion, granted Im on of the more advanced bashers, but i can easily keep up war (10% damage bonus) Knowledge(+2 intelligence) and harmony with a decent effort. There are also quests, like tosha, that are good exp AND give amazing karma, (around 20% or so last time I checked to do the whole thing)
Invoke circle and Evoke Pentagram are the touch shield equivalents, and rather than most tatoos, we have enchantments.
