I'm probably the source of the confusion. I wasn't thinking clearly when Richter asked me, but now that I have had a chance to think about it I'll have to say the only way weapons can be made permanent (resetting) is through weapon runes.
Sorry, Richter, for giving you bad information!

Ekard2005-11-20 09:28:41
And with Great runes, weapons also do not decay, right?
Soll2005-11-20 12:08:03
Correct.
Ekard2005-11-20 13:02:44
Ok. now i need 300cr for basic runes.
Any donations?

Okay... well, I sent an email to artifacts@lusternia.com with all of the information in the help scroll that was really confusing and misleading. Now I know that the rest of it will be turned down, but at least that part can be touched up.
Unknown2005-11-20 18:31:29
So no resetting tower shields after all?
Soll2005-11-20 18:41:21
She only mentioned Weapons.

So, in this case, I have to remove about 25 stats, to put 15 on, and it's going to cost me 400cr instead of 300cr. Ugh, I hope that for the next round of builder applications you all choose me, because I'm not made of money.

Terenas2005-11-20 21:49:30
So it will be possible to get my 88/90 helm made permanent and reset?
Unknown2005-11-20 21:54:59
Actually, nevermind
Diamante2005-11-20 22:07:27
I'd really like to customize my fullplate. But I was told things like that cant be, even though I can curse it on me and the fact it never decays, but thats beside the point. Can we at least be allowed to customize the description< and then its up to us to take care it doesnt get stolen?
Ekard2005-11-20 22:53:49
Come to my cartel i'm only smith in it, so your design in here will be unique. I wont make any more, only for you.

The point is that we don't want permanent weapons that are above certain stats. If by a fluke, you forge a weapon with super high stats, we at least know that eventually they'll decay. (The alternative would be to hard code stat caps on forging, though I think it's kind of interesting to have the occasional fluke with high stats--we just don't want those flukes permanent.)
There's a similar reasoning behind why we don't want full plate armour with permanent stats. (We have discussed runes for armour before, but have never agreed on how they should work or reasonable stat limitations.)
Richter2005-11-21 00:03:55
Well, that makes sense, but its dissappointing. I suppose they'll decay eventually, and I'll make myself some more, in the meanwhile, I found a good use for 300cr.

Fieldplate decays, fullplate does not, so those will have permanent stats.

Well, what I meant, was that I already have fullplate, but gave up forging and took poisons, so this suit is the one and only one I'll ever have most likely. What I want to do is merely change the description. In regards to not wanting flukes to be permanent, my armour -cannot- decay. I plan to curse it eventually, and then it will be a permanent non decay item, essentially an artifact, except for some reason I can describe it.
Trans fullplate pretty much makes an artie already, why not just let us customize

Can't forging trademasters make new fullplates?
Ekard2005-11-21 08:56:53
Only for themselfs.
Terenas2005-11-21 16:04:26
If armors can't be made permanent, at least allow forgers to be able to repair them. You can mend clothes, repair jeweleries, re-enchant items, refill vials, but when it comes to forging, you can't do anything but smelt the item down and make new ones altogether. I wouldn't mind a cost associated with repairing of the armors, but at least give us something besides the repairing of armor status at the moment that doesn't do anything at all.
