Since my somewhat-mentor on leveling has decided that he's not logging onto Lusternia now that he's a demigod, I figured I'd ask you all what is needed to level more effectively.
I have 20 more levels to go, and eventually I will be a demigod (even if it is three or so years from now, I'm never quitting Lusternia ), I just want to know what the best way is to go about all of this. I understand that you should have harmony, life, and war blessings up, and I was advised to go mugwump and use nightkiss to hunt (I go a lot faster, and it makes up for the loss of the human exp bonus, I believe). So, I nightkiss things to death and have autumn up whenever I can.
What artifacts would really help me out? I was thinking about getting a critical hit medal, but I was told they're really not worth it. Also was thinking about the regen rings, would be nice to have constant passive regen for health and mana. Should I get a torc of the divine spirit?
What are the best places to hunt, and which give the most exp? Right now, I can kill about 15 gorgogs for 1%, and it's quite irritating. The highest I ever was on a game was lv65 on Aetolia, so naturally I wasn't quite prepared for not being able to gain exp quickly anymore.
Any suggestions on how to level quickly?

PK is nice xp if you're good at it.

Guess I should clarify:
I suck at PKing.
Maybe someday someone will teach me though, until then, we're killing mobs.

Damnit.
Richter2005-11-20 01:50:42
I know! He was a councilmember in Deepnight, a leveling mentor for me, and one of the few people I genuinely enjoyed dealing with on a regular basis.
Shiri2005-11-20 01:51:38
Ya. Better hurry w/mtgo I guess.
Kaileigh2005-11-20 01:52:44
Your forest is a hunting ground. Use it.
Richter2005-11-20 01:56:17
You mean spiders and zombies and stuff? I bet I could clear Glomdoring and not get 1%.
Joli2005-11-20 02:19:46
I can clear water and get 10%. Yay for being a low level
Ceren2005-11-20 02:23:14
I think Magnagora let's Glomdoring people in the Catacombs, and you've got one of the best race/class combos for bashing so surviving shouldn't be a problem. Check it out.

Richter...
Level 2 XP Bonus (human)
+
Harmony blessing
+
Autumn (Lowmagic)
=
Much experience.
Factor the catacombs into that and you'll be one happy little man.

Archon Richter Carthan (Male Mugwump).
He is 62 years old, having been born on the 25th of Estar, 71 years after the
Coming of Estarra.
He is ranked 56th in Lusternia.
He is the 28th ranked combatant with a rating of 100.
He is an extremely credible character.
EDIT: Besides, being able to kill big things is worth more than having to kill 30% fewer small things to get a level.
Morik2005-11-20 06:12:32
remember: XP gaining speed is a function of:
* your XP bonus
* how fast you kill things
* how big the things you kill
* how often you kill them
I'm happy bashing as a human because /i/ don't have an infinite supply of things to hunt, so I want to get the most out of what I do hunt. BUt if you're bashing the catacombs or Astral (pre-player-nerfing) the supply of bashable material is constant and therefore what matters is the speed you bash through it just as much as your XP gain.
20% xp gain but 30% longer to kill something: better off killing it faster.

Wow, I was so used to Richter always being human.
Diamante2005-11-20 06:32:34
Having been just about every race, from igasho with decent speed rapiers,(strength matters more than weapon damage so speed is the key) to a human using both rapiers and moonburst, to a mugwump with a uber merf kick-ass moonburst, definately mugwump warriors make the most insane bashers, provided they have nightkiss or moonburst. Sure, you dont get a 20% bonus, but when you attack on average a second or 2 faster, and can kill in 3 or 4 rounds sooner, over time you end up getting way more exp than you would as a human. Aside from that, with the insane amount of intel buffs, war, knowledge, and harmony, you can make a moonburst/nightkiss rock the socks off any mobs rather quickly, its quite nice
Richter2005-11-20 06:36:09
I've only hunted the catacombs once though, and Narsrim killed me for no reason. I heard Narsrim PKs people there for experience quite a bit, so I've stayed away from it.
