...The sweetness starts with an adjustable backlit LCD display. This allows you to see crucial game data without using valuable screen real estate. You can track in-game resources and set timers for game events.18 Programmable "G keys" can perform complex macros - like casting spells - with a single keystroke. Of course the glowing backlit keyboard helps with stealthy night gaming... no need to alert the whole household to your insatiable addiction.....

I saw this in the store and was wowed untill I realized that I -never- look at my keyboard.... You should be looking at your monitor, not your keyboard!

That was the first thing I thought. "Why would you want your stats somewhere that's not the screen?"
Daganev2005-11-18 08:13:47
Now comes the secret answer... Most 12 year olds still look at the keyboard while they type!
Asarnil2005-11-18 08:17:26
because considering the size of the display, you could have it set to keep track of stuff that wouldn't appear in the prompt without taking up more screen space. Not to mention that when in the middle of a fight or the like your eyes are watching the lower part of the screen, which means you don't need to move your eyes much to keep track of the display. What sets this keyboard apart for me is the multiple timer and 18 complex macro keys (with 3 shift states means 54 macros) and a macro record feature so you can record macros without worrying about needing to program it.

Hmm.
I guess I'm just used to having a keyboard at a different angle to my screen now. (My parents are retarded and put it in the kitchen, you'd have to see it to understand properly I think.) If I couldn't touch type my neck would be moving all the time so I could glance at it.

I bet your fingers can type two or three letter aliases faster then you can get your fingers to the macros.
Shiri2005-11-18 08:22:09
Yes, yes they can. That's why I have aliases instead of macros. Pisses me off when it comes to clotting though, I keep missing the freaking control key, or if I hit it, I press c instead of z, or something. And I used to have it on F8, but that suddenly stopped working yesterday (the macro is still in the client, it just doesn't work...even though the key is still functional. )
Asarnil2005-11-18 08:28:15
I can Daganev, but its so much easier and more efficient to have a heap of macro's in key locations than to type the aliases out and hope that I don't accidentally hit the wrong letter at a critical juncture where I can press a button and KNOW its going to do it.

I put this keyboard on Display with a Halo setup a couple days ago in my Best Buy Location. My GM was complaining that he wanted the two set up together, but it's not very friendly with Halo. heh. Cool keyboard though.

Bestbuy is a giant D&D game?

Umm...something like that.
Acrune2005-11-18 13:42:13
Hmm, thats a lot of potential macros. I could put all the skills and psionics combos I use on those, hehe. Might be good for manual curing if you had a good memory.
Richter2005-11-18 15:48:54
I'd be able to set all of my knighthood attacks.
Daganev2005-11-18 18:56:26
There are over 52 warrior attacks possible. 36 that would have use in combat.
I find it easier to make three letter aliases for those.
C for the crush, K for strike, B for Bash/smash/smite, P for pulp, S for shieldstun combos, r for right, l for left, b for both, a for arm, l for leg, g for gut, c for chest, h for head,
So if I want to crush both your arms it would be Cba, if I want to shieldstun you and swipe at your gut, I would do Sg
Then special words for combos where puissance is used, like "bash" for the head or "knock" for the legs.
