Thats a silly theory. Faelings exist in cities.
Being a member of a city gives you an intrisinc link to the type of spiritual life and power, thats how power works, and why your power instantly changes when your no longer directly connected to that nexus. Thats why you can't summon fae if your not linked to a commune. So if a faeling can exist in a city, a faeling can exist when nature is destroyed. Its a race now, they are no longer fae. Same with viscanti, they can exist in Celest which is devoid of taint. A new race is a new race.
The first faelings where a mix between an elf and a fae, Just as the first shadow faelings where a mix between an undead elf and a fae. After that orignial faeling was born, they became thier own race and can procreate with eachother.

That's your silly theory, I have mine.
Gardens exist in cities. I guess that means if Nature is completely corrupted by taint they'll still be utterly untouched and pristine, according to your theory. It's just that my view of the Lusternian natural world is more spiritual and interconnected. It's not necessarily right, but it's not wrong either.
