Doesn't matter, it exists.

Guardians and Warriors from Hallifax will so get the Bullet time ability. I can see it already, damn. It's predestined.

There is technology in Magnagora in house Rhotti if I remember correctly. THey call them war machines.

Also, the WoT seems to have some "technology/magic" blends. Those special sangreals that you don't need magic abilities to use. I think one of them is even an elevator. And why does serenwilde have a slave pulling a dummywaitor when they can just have a druid using treebane or whatever? hmm? Whats up with slave labor over magic there? And why don't we use magic for mining? Do we really still need dwarves to do the mining for us?

Lots of places for technology to be used.
Richter2005-11-21 19:12:26
I wasn't aware someone was working their elevator, I think its just a system of pulleys and whatnot working. No slaves there.
Shamarah2005-11-21 20:44:39
Meh, this would be lame. Wizardry 8 had spaceships and stuff in a fantasy setting and it just didn't seem to fit.
Unknown2005-11-21 20:54:44
It did! It was nice.
Munsia2005-11-21 21:15:07
machines and lusternia dont mix mad.gif
Gwylifar2005-11-21 21:24:27
I think it'd be great on one condition -- that wiccans get gremlins too.
Richter2005-11-21 21:27:31
If Wiccans get gremlins, I get stormtroopers.
Gwylifar2005-11-21 21:31:06
Ummmm, Richter, gremlins are essentially fae, so they fit. There's just no machines out there to muck with. What's your excuse for stormtroopers? Daevos is not quite Hitler, neither is he Vader.
Richter2005-11-21 21:40:39
I forgot gremlins destroy machines, I just picked a random movie character (Gremlins, Star Wars) because I thought you were being a goof. Ignore me.

Nah, it felt weird to be casting spells and swinging swords in a world that had rockets and computers and spaceships and guns and stuff.

Great game otherwise, though.

this has been mentioned before. there was the 4rth archtype thread, and Estarra mentioned it had been said very shortly earlier in that thread. this was one of the concepts that was mentioned very shortly
Asarnil2005-11-22 00:01:15
I wouldn't mind machina in Magnagora, then I could convince Joli to join and change her race to Al Bhed and she would be Rikku v2...........

That's what I thought he was talking about too...I was like..What in the world does Keanu Reeves have to do with Lusternia getting funky machine things. And then I was like..Ohh..Hallifax. I want to be able to summon Fae Knights and Crazed Fae Girls if we get machines. But I don't think we will get machines. like 99.999% unlikely to happen.
Unknown2005-11-22 00:37:01
I believe Matrix was some sort of computer... a bit magical version of an electronic device.

I definately do not want guns in Lusternia... caster gun (from Outlaw Star anime) was a neat concept though.
Richter2005-11-22 00:37:59
I thought it would be funnier to just put a matrix quote in though. smile.gif

I have ideas for technology. There are elememts of machines, as I had mentioned a while back. We could have an engineering skill but with a Lusternian twist. No guns, but perhaps some other items.

I want to save my ideas for a book, though, so I won't post them here.
Unknown2005-11-22 02:02:47
I had always thought Hallifax was based on technology, as the aeromantic technology gave it the feature to fly. I'm pretty sure that engineering requires some kind of technology anyway. This is just an example, I know Hallifax is a long long way ahead, you don't have to remind me, though this shows that technology is possible and thus technological advancement is possible which may then lead to technological inventions... and technology does not equal guns and weapons. But magic is always an easier alternative.

"How does that work?"

"It's magic."
