Well, you could have the idea that the universe is created from indivisible blocks at a basic level, but not the modern conception of atoms (as in "atoms and bonds.") I guess.

or maybe a completely new theory! "the universe is made of little tiny pandas that run around in wheels, supplying us with energy. this energy can come in the form of light, which happends when the panda's eat the wheels they run in and then explode."

I really should have some of my stuff published, I'm working on a few books... Not that I need you all to think I'm a "great thinker" or something, but I do have some interesting ideas. If I ever finish the books on planar theory, aethercrafting, and notes on Principles...

Hoe do you know Lusternia's universe is made out of atoms? What if it is made out of elements?

Indeed. Originally an atom would have been defined thus: "A hypothetical body, so infinitely small as to be incapable of further division; and thus held to be one of the ultimate particles of matter, by the concourse of which, according to Leucippus and Democritus, the universe was formed." (www.oed.com) And this definition would have fit with the conception of the universe as being composed of the four or five original elements.

Pretty much. If you don't get the information directly from the game, or from a Divine, it's probably not true, specially if you're assuming Lusternia's universe works like our own.
I stay clear of all that by writing social philosophy instead of natural philosophy.

Well, it's natural philosophy for the same reason that Democritus' atomic theory was natural philosophy. He had no access to means by which to verify his theories just as we do not. They are just theories, and the merits of the theory can be debated back and forth without end in the same way that social philosophies can be.

Atoms to me sounds like you havn't looked at Lusternia close enough. Things seem to work on a more magical basis. Power, elements, cosmic.. these are all the buildblocks of the universe. Atleast according to the help files.

Right. I highly doubt 'atoms' exist in Lusternia... I cringe whenever some would-be scholar starts spouting off about modern scientific ideas.
