Well.. The Imperian Forums have been down -all day- and regardless of how I feel about your MUD and you group of people you are all part of the IRE community.. So..

How is Lusternia better than Imperian?

Play it and see for yourself... our opinions of why have no consequence on your existence, or opinion. wub.gif

I played it orginally when it first started.. I wasn't very impressed back then, seemed everythign was overpowered too much plus and I didn't notice a lot of RP back then.. I pretty much just had a very bad experience when I first started and having my head up the rear end of the Imperianites doesn't help any because they are all anti-everything..

Why Lusternia is better than other MUDs(the short version):

-Skillchoices. Not everyone in the same guild has the same skills, sometimes its a variation, sometimes they're completely different, though they still are all able to pick from within the same skillsets.

-Cartels. Amazing, custom weapons, only have to be approved by the gods.

-Manses. Player housing that requires no god approval. And they're just really freaking cool.

-An active staff. An inactive staff quickly kills the game, and our gods are awesome with updates, and interaction.

There's other reasons, and Imperian might have some of those, but Lusternia still rocks. My friends in town keep trying to get me to play, but I won't switch. biggrin.gif

Everything would seem overpowered compaired to Imperian, they divided everything by 10.
Simimi2005-11-25 00:12:24
I heard in Imperian you only have like a few hundred Hp...I'm at 2065 I believe at lv 37.. that must suck for you guys..
But Seriously try it, it is ALOT of fun!

Well, everything was changed from the 1000 base to the 100 base or was it 100 base to 10 base.. I forgot.. Pretty much everything does less damage..

Highest health in the game right now is like 600...

My biggest fret right now about Imperian is it's turning into another Achaea.. The RPers are leaving and the only way to get good into combat now is to have 200 artifacts... Meh.. I might give it another shot, I just like Whyte's Mapper and i'd hate to have to try to get that to work on Lusternia...

Nah we are cool like that, the website has a catrography already built into it.

Maybe so.. but I like the inline map that Whyte's mapper provides.. I'll post a picture if you want me to explain this better.

Lusternia is overpowered smile.gif But everyone is equally overpowered in thier own way.. cept warriors are ruling over druids and guardians are ruling over warriors...
Simimi2005-11-25 00:52:27
Yea, I would love to know what your talking about, if you would be so kind.

That thing is awesome, although unless he's fixed it recently it still has bugs with Nexus and having systems on.

But the fact that he got it to work on Nexus at all is amazing.

But despite that, we're still better.

Hmm, that part never came out right for me...I just used it to track to places given their names.

That's a great idea. My only peeve abouts MUDs is that I have no spacial awareness without a map, and that solves a lot of problems.
Unknown2005-11-25 01:36:20
Well the mapper has a lot of features now.. I might try to map the realm if I come.. You can go to a room by searching for it, it would give a walking path and you type GO and it walks to that area.. The last time I tried to use it it got confused very easily.. It's lot better now so I might try it again..

I don't know.. I might give it another chance.. My first experience was just so boring.. Can I go very far without buying credits (except on the credit market?)

I've found Whyte's coding very impressive, and his choice to use the MudBot program to mask input and output was inspired. Unfortunately what he does is extremely specific, and it takes a long time to customise his code for any other purpose than the exact thing he designed it for.

Also, he is too cautious in a lot of his implementation - though the map path function for his IMapper provides accurate directions almost all the time (provided you're somewhere it recognises), his speedwalking code fails to live up to it, as if it is even slightly uncertain about the specific room it is in, it will simply up and refuse to go any further.

Being one of the two people that beta tests IMTS, I can tell you now that if he ever releases the new version.. It rarely(if ever) does that anymore..

You ought to try Lusternia again if you're bored enough to browse our forums. tongue.gif I wasn't around in the beginning, but I can safely say we're MUCH better than we were at the start.
