I might give it another run down.. Imperian is just getting a little uninteresting for me.. Stavenn starting to kill peoples RP children and kidnapping and sexual acts on people.. it's getting very distasteful.. And i'm not even a citizen of Stavenn...
Simimi2005-11-25 02:28:01
They are doing what now?
and you have to -ask- why Lusternia is better?
Tsk tsk to you!

Yeah.. That's why i've been searching for a new place to go to.. Stavenn has just gone way strange.. Yeah it's demonic RP but.. And I believe it was commented recently on the Imperian forums.. 'If you publically announce a childs birth.. A stavennite will appear and either kidnap it and try to corrupt it, kill it infront you of, or kidnap it and kill it.'
Simimi2005-11-25 03:09:27
Yea that makes me kind fo sick to my stomach, anf you people gripe about Arix's naughty cakes when he could be doing this?
Lusternia is way better...now For Sure! We do not have knaves doing that sort of thing, but we do have stainless steel goats and emaciated virgins...
Now come play with us!

I've tried out both Imperian and Lusternia, and I can honestly say I like Lusty better. I went to MPOGD.com and read a few rave reviews about the RP so I finally figured to go try it out again. I didn't like it.
This one guild I tried out gave me a strict outline of what to do with MY lessons. If I strayed from that outline and someone finds out, I would get punished. Not sure what they would do to me, but the ghelp said I would be "severely punished" if I remember right.
There are no choices in skillsets, etc (I'm basically echoing Richter here).
Tradeskills cost 100 credits.
Didn't see any RP. I was standing in the center of whatever city I was in. People were sooo OOC.
Original Poster: Try out Lusternia! Like someone said, if you are bored enough to browse the forums, log on for a while. You won't be disappointed.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by people being OOC.. Unless you were standing at the Spring and some newbie's were talking OOC speaking through says are very frowned upon.
Moving on from that.. I made a character.. Havn't gotten to try anything out yet, i've been busy trying to configure Whyte's mapper to work correctly with the SURVEY that Lusternia has, it's slightly different in Imperian..
Works now, so hopefully I can start mapping places..

Lusternia really does have some great RP if you associate in the right circles. It can suck to stand around the Mother Tree though and watch people asking others to, I don't know, amputate their leg so they can test the skill. I usually tell them to stfu and do it in a manse or something, if I'm in a grumpy mood, otherwise I try to ignore it .
Does that kinda stuff happen in Imperion?

Heh, from what I've read from Imperian's forums, they don't think too highly of Lusternia. One of the thing that stood out to me was, "Most of the Imperian elites and I don't care much for Lusternia." I was quite amused.
Arix2005-11-25 04:43:10
I can't stand Imperian, although I do have an Achaea character that I don't hate too much.

This happens in too many places.. Antioch Shuk is the biggest place, second would be the Spring..

The normal though of Lusternia from Imperian is, 'Eww.. They suck.' They shun people who come and play and then go back.. Iriaen did this (dunno his name here) and people still insult him by calling him a Lusternite or something of that such..

But Seriously try it, it is ALOT of fun!

We have the same amount of health, it's just in a smaller figure. 600 = 6000.
It actually takes longer to die in Imperian, spars here seem to be fast and deadly, which is good since a lot of the time you can sit there fighting someone for 10 minutes until boredom strikes.

Impy's website has cartography. People also use zMUD mapper, the problem is Whytes mapper is the most amazing thing you have ever seen, and it's like quitting heroin to be without it, trust me, you just dont understand, try being able to speedwalk one side of the continent to the other in 10 seconds then being stucj with following a graphical map for 10 minutes
Unknown2005-11-25 05:21:53
I played Imperian for awhile. Had a level 45 Malignist, didn't find it much to my liking. I suggest joining Lusternia as a member of Magnagora; we have the lowest number of idiots and the best leaders, although it can be a bit strict at times.

And those people that get caught doing that in public places, atleast by me, suddenly find themselves with no rolepoints... strange how that works out.

Also, Cireb..the mapper maps, but it speedwalks like a tard. I have no idea how to fix it, so i just stick with mapping and using the map window in the new CVS release.
As for which game is better than which, i think it's irrelevant. I dont think any are better, Imperian i'd say is less prone to people being blatantly OOC, so just to clear that up. But there are a lot of flaws in Imperian that make it suit me less. Saying "were better than you" is a really easy thing to say, the problem with IRE MUD's is that you like what you're used to. It's an absolute pain in the ass to change to another and you tend to overlook or get over the flaws in your own. If the atmosphere in the one you go to check out is foreign from your home MUD (which it will be, obviously) you'll feel unwelcome and lost, going from being a well affirmed character knowing how things work and suddenly being demoted to clueless newbie is a hard thing to do, you're bound to see negatives.
Personally, i'm liking Lusternia better for a lot of reasons, but i cant banish Imperian as being inferior, cause it isnt. It has a lot of flaws, but Lusternia has it's own flaws too, it can be mega confusing for a new player compared to others, there are only a few archetypes to choose from as compared to 12+ completely different classes in others, there arent any really diverse cities since it's quite a typical "good city/bad city, good forest/bad forest" setup, it's almost impossible to change guilds without being crippled, gold is hard to earn in-game compared, weapons/armour/equipment are obscenely expensive, your skills are controlled by someone with a button in your city, effectively able to cut off your power supply on a whim, and the PK system is too overdone and complicated, full of silly failsafes that are supposed to account for your lack of common sense, a commodity which Imperian is driven by.
Imperian is too credit driven, people with artifacts essentially own it and you, the relaxed and free approach to PK is going down the drain to technicalities cause of PK whores, people are forever bitching, taming came in, it's too hard to get favours unless you know people in high places or can kill like a maniac, knight classes there absolutely suck.
Both are good, both are an acquired taste and are completely incompatible, but given a hard shove or being in desperation will force you to realise whichever one you dont play regularly is actually quite good and doesnt live up to the bitching, you just need to open your mind and get over being alone in a confusing place.
This is my opinion, and i'll defend Imperians reputation to the end. but likewise i'd defend Lusternia's on Imperians forums, because i was absolutely shocked at how much better it is than i'd assumed from peoples opinions.

Ooh, come lurk in Serenwilde a while please ? I honestly did not think it was considered that serious a breach of roleplay - it is in my opinion, but many people seem to do it so I assumed I was a minority - so I have never bothered to take it further than asking them via tells to do it somewhere more private.

You would hate to come to Magnagora then, it happens all the time - but thats mainly because we are more combat minded than the other orgs, as well as worrying about things like accidental deaths less, so we just practice and play on the streets instead of in the arena. And then theres the smartmouthed newbs who annoy me so I gust them to an outdoor room and then telekenetically bugger them up.
Viravain2005-11-25 08:26:54
Lusternian divine are far sexier than any measly Imperian divinity. (I suppose the player base here is okay looking, as well.) That alone makes Lusternia better!
