And Shorlen is either really lucky or better than me at Sealed Kamigawa.

3-2 in his favour, I think. sad.gif

Faeries? blink.gif Please tell me that's mostly spells. There's like, 2 half decent faeries in all of Magic, and even those I wouldn't play in constructed. And if you play an actualy Tribal legal faerie deck, you've GOT to be a masochist.
Shiri2005-11-29 07:44:23
The new Ravnica faeries aren't half bad.

1/1 flying and draws a card on death for 1U?
Sylphas2005-11-29 08:11:40
Yes. There are two of those. They're not great, but they're playable. Best other faerie I can think of is Thornwind, because they can ping, but they're still 1UU for a 1/1 flyer.
Unknown2005-11-29 08:16:27
Not everyone plays to make strong constructed decks. I make a point of building decks that are amusing and interesting, its a bonus when I get the occasional placing in a toury with an off the wall deck.

You havent had fun untill you have won a constructed tournement with a chaos deck, god all the "serious" players hated me so much for that.

With all my moving around havent had chance to look at Ravnica yet, but I want to, have always been a gold freak.

And I remember when Faerie decks were TOTALLY playable.
Sylphas2005-11-29 08:19:47
Looking at Gatherer, I'd have to guess that was when, Homelands? Homelands is like the kid on the playground all the other expansions beat the hell out of. I'd be surprised if Homelands ever went a day without losing its lunch money.
Unknown2005-11-29 08:26:42
Yeah, but there are plenty of expansions like that, and nothing will beat the unholy failure of Masques. More people quit Magic as a result of that block than any other.
Sylphas2005-11-29 08:55:09
I actually had a ton of fun playing Masques sealed. unsure.gif

And really, all my faerie hostility is because I'd love to play it tribal, but I just wouldn't have any fun with mostly vanilla 1/1 flyers. sad.gif
Unknown2005-11-29 09:33:05
nothing wrong with 1/1 vanilla.... I collect Mons' I have almost 1000 covering all the arts, I still think they are the best goblin ever.
Shiri2005-12-05 13:59:30
As a side note, anyone with Skype who wants to play T2 casual multiplayer should ask Sylphas and I when we're around together sometime(we use apprentice to do the shuffling and library stuff and just trust each other not to cheat, played with AmajoS and it was pretty fun biggrin.gif).

I wasn't nearly as horrid as I thought I'd be, though the guys probably got tired of having to stop and explain every little thing to me all the time. It really was fun though! Especially when Shiri and Sylphas would bicker. Just funny stuff.

Heh, it's okay, all for fun anyway. biggrin.gif

I remember when using Prodigal Sorcerers to blast enemy stuff from afar was considered a sophisticated strategy.
Guess I'm a bit outdated on Magic, am I not?
Unknown2005-12-05 16:09:50
Tim is still a valid tactic, just has new twists along the road to improve the strategy a little now. Not to mention there are many more tims.
Unknown2005-12-05 16:10:41
Wait, Prodigal Sorcerer is called Tim now? wacko.gif
Unknown2005-12-05 16:13:58
Always has been...the mechanic of tap deal 1 damage to opponent/craeture was named Tim after the Prodigal Sorceror, because the original card looks like Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

QUOTE
Arthur: What manner man are you that you can summon up fire without flint or tinder?
Tim: I... am an enchanter.
Arthur: By what name are you known?
Tim: There are some who call me... 'Tim'?

EDIT: Wow he actually has a Wikipedia entry here
Unknown2005-12-05 16:18:48
It seems I am even more ignorant than I thought then.

But still, IMHO these guys do not look very similar...

Prodigal Sorcerer

Tim

Back to my cave now.
