Also we need to do an Alpha Draft, just for kicks and giggles.

See and this is why limited Mirrodin, is the devil. You can just draft I win combos.

I did enjoy the games though, but since everyone one else is none english and Shiri is noctunral I guess that means I only get to play at weekends.

You have Elaria!

Anyway, I just BARELY won against Diamante...Sylphas' faiths fetters died when he did, so my dimir houseguard got a dredged moldervine cloak and swept through his stunning array of boros weenies (never underestimate torpid molochs.)

I did better than I should have, I drafted an awesome golgari deck but I think I screwed up a couple times, luckily I pulled through, never got to use savra though. (And I dredged my siege wurm.) sad.gif
Shiri2005-12-19 10:40:44
I'd offer to play now but Elaria's out working and Sylphas and Diamante are going to bed I think. sad.gif

EDIT: Actually, they're not, but they want to play constructed. (I'm gonna have one of them build me a deck I think, I -suck- at constructed. tongue.gif)

And I am also at work. if you can drag yourself out of bed by a reasonable hour this evening, I can play then.

We should try some constructed but using the more interesting variants, peasant magic anyone?

If reasonable hour = midnight (before then, I can't get on the PC due to parents) then sure. tongue.gif

Never played. Maybe in T2, beyond that it gets way out of my league. tongue.gif

And 4PM is bedtime! >_>"

limiting it to type 2 kinds of ruins peasant magic, they just don't make things like Armadillo cloak anymore.

We could do T2 Highlander I suppose *shrug*

What's highlander? Don't know that one.

And I thought that was the point of peasant magic, not having awesome cards like that. tongue.gif
Unknown2005-12-19 11:03:45
Point of peasant magic is to build interesting strategies around commons and not around rares....highlander is constructed but "There can be only one" card limit (excluding land obviously) is 1. There is also Lowlander which is peasant highlander.

Oh, nice, highlander I can take. Prismatic I could take too. And tutors are banned I suppose?
It's just that I prefer (and am better at) tactics as opposed to strategy.
Unknown2005-12-19 11:37:30
Highlander has a few variants, and you can follow the restricted lists you chose. frequently banned cards are alternate win conditions and morphs.

Most interesting form of Highlander is as follows.

you much have an equal mix of land (so if you include 3 mountains you need 3 of everything else)

non-basic land is optional but if you include any it must follow the land split.

for every spell type you include you must include one of each colour (so if you include (2 creatures, and instant, a sorcery and an enchantment in red, you need the same in every other colour).

Gold isn't compulsory, but if you take any gold, it must follow the colour split.

Artifacts are compulsory and must be the same number as the colour split.

example : -

4 mountains
4 islands
4 swamps
4 plains
4 forests
elhame palace
salt marsh
city of brass
terminal moraine

1 Raging Goblin
1 Merfolk Looter
1 Llanowar Elf
1 Serpent Warrior
1 Standing Troops

1 Shock
1 Counterspell
1 Giant Growth
1 Dark Ritual
1 Disenchant

1 Volcanic Hammer
1 ...

etc etc (I got bored)
Shiri2005-12-19 11:50:11
Sounds...highly weird. blink.gif
Unknown2005-12-19 12:19:06
Not as wierd as some variabls my friends and I used to play. Try decks where you can only use your land a limited number of times, now they're difficult.

Ah, back in the day. I WAS good, once upon a time.

Me too oldie.gif
Laysus2005-12-19 12:22:08
Fun variation my friend came up with... We normally just play constructed.

Your life total = D20

Your starting hand size & limit = 27-your life total cards

We decided to alter it to 10+d10 life total, though >.>
Laysus2005-12-19 12:24:30
Also, I'm interested in constructed...

Yay for my shadows >.>
Sylphas2005-12-19 12:39:47
I'm up for constructed. It's fun. It helps me bring my level of deckbuilding up with practice, and it's neat to learn new decks. Just played Life (actually, now that I realize it, slightly out of date for extended, but meh) against Shiri and Diamante. Shiri played Ghazi Glare, and Dia had what looked like some screwball storm combo with scepters. Shut Shiri down completely, and he conceded when I comboed out to go to thirty million life after managing to bluff out Dia over MSN with smilies tongue.gif. Then got my ass handed to me by a brain freeze combo 15 turns later.

Life needs a win condition that isn't "You can't possibly kill me before you deck." Even that is flimsy. If you go off and they have more cards in their library, they win. If they are an infinite combo or most types of control, they win. Fun to pull off, but annoying as hell.

Decks I'd like to try:
Deadguy Ale (Legacy)
Scepter-chant (Extended)
Ghazi-Glare (Standard)
MadnessTog (Extended)

Also, I'd like to tweak my standard Heartbeat deck a bit. I actually own most of it in real life, and am slowly paring out the proxies (Gifts costs too damn much sad.gif).
Sylphas2005-12-19 12:49:46
Also, I'd like to say that having started to play combo decks, the feeling of bluffing past counters, going off, and having a massive effect is really, really exciting. Limited just can't match that.

Also, we need to set up a tournament or something, or just some single matches. Multiplayer, combo is much weaker, or just doesn't work, and control is much weakened as well. I'd like having the option to play something besides a ton of creatures.

Ooo. Two Headed Giant, anyone? -bounce-

And for some reason I forgot my favorite: Tribal Wars. I've been pondering an Angel deck, and I had a nifty green spirit deck for a while IRL that I had fun with. The format is nifty.
Ashteru2005-12-19 13:13:00
Onslaught block....I love my elfen deck. Especially with some rarer cards too. If I draw good, I can have five mana out in the second round.

Of course, last time I played it was 2 years ago. biggrin.gif
