So should moderators be locking threads because people disagree with them? Even when they are plain old wrong? I mean this smells slightly of abuse, especially when they lock it with no reason, but feel they need to leave a post as the "last word".

Edit:: let's also note the thread being in the idiot's section which is meant for ranting to begin with. The thread is not the moderator's own, and the final post has nothing to do with the issue at hand or again state why the thread was locked.

Daganev doesn't understand skills or even what the word "bug" implies... and when this is pointed out, we find threads closing.

A bug is a flaw in the code. That means that something in the code isn't working as it should be working. For example, invoke serpent is suddenly crashing Lusternia.

A design flaw is a crude term that means that skills is working correctly (in terms of coding), but the way it has been designed to work is unbalanced. For example, barrier/divinefire/chasm. This wasn't a bug, this was an oversight in design (and this is only natural given that infinite series of combinations of skills available).

Daganev will post: DONT POST BUGS when someone mentions something that has is not related to code and close threads. We need more unbias people who undersatnd what they are talking about. He even tried to argue against this basic rationale by asking if other abilities opperated while statued, which they do... like any passive effect.

Heh, the "last word" presenting an opinion about the matter at hand is really... amusing.

What is your god damn problem!?

Not to bash Daganev, but why is it that he's allowed to edit posts and censor them when he is incapable of using decent language himself? At what point does it become an abuse of "power"...?

"God damn" is not indecent language. blink.gif

Shiri,

You once censored the word "crap" out of one of my posts. What are you on?
Narsrim2005-11-29 04:36:12
I'm going to be honest: I would make a terrible moderator. Murphy would make a terrible moderator. However, there are lots of relatively good minded and fair people out there who most certainly wouldn't pull garbage like this.

I think Shiri is by far the fairest of them all.

Richter used to be a bit iffy, but he's changed a LOT and I definately feel he does a very fair job.

Daganev, on the other hand, seems to moderate when he's on a power trip. There was absolutely NO reason to close the barrier/statue thread.

laugh.gif Shiri's gotten less innocent in the last year. I wouldn't worry about that anymore.

And I agree. Even in his non-moderator style posts I still get the iffy feeling. ninja.gif

I know that, but if crap isn't indecent, damn sure as hell isn't. dry.gif

EDIT: And I knew that would get brought up if I posted here somehow. laugh.gif

I think maybe this should be taken straight to the admins. There's no need to start another thread bashing Daganev's moderation.
Narsrim2005-11-29 04:44:35
Eat this Shiri:

QUOTE

Goddamn

adj 1: used as expletives; "oh, damn (or goddamn)!" 2: expletives used informally as intensifiers; "he's a blasted idiot"; "it's a blamed shame"; "a blame cold winter"; "not a blessed dime"; "I'll be damned (or blessed or darned or goddamned) if I'll do any such thing"; "he's a damn (or goddam or goddamned) fool"; "a deuced idiot"; "tired or his everlasting whimpering"; "an infernal nuisance" adv : extremely; "you are goddamn right!"

QUOTE
Expletive

ex·ple·tive    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (kspl-tv)
n.
An exclamation or oath, especially one that is profane, vulgar, or obscene.

According to www.dictionary.com, goddamn constitues a profane, vulgar, obscene word.
Shiri2005-11-29 04:47:11
Well technically "oh nuts!" is an expletive, but no one really complains about that.

See it actually has "blessed" "blamed" and "deuced" down as expletives too.

So I don't really buy that. tongue.gif
Xenthos2005-11-29 04:49:02
I'm so blessed. unsure.gif

Actually, no it doesn't... the definition or what it can constitute is not necessarly an expletive. That'd be like saying "feces" it an expletive because it is a definition of " censor.gif ."

EDIT: I know you were quoting, but still. ~Shiri~

Well an expletive, by this definition...

ex·ple·tive ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kspl-tv)
n.
An exclamation or oath, especially one that is profane, vulgar, or obscene.

is an exclamation. So said with the proper tone and so forth "faeces" is indeed an expletive. It's just not profane, vulgar or obscene. But you'll notice that that isn't necessary.

The whole thing with what constitutes swearing or not is pretty arbitrary, but in any case, the dictionary link you quoted has not only goddamn but all the rest of the ones I mentioned, so while they're expletives they're not actually swearing.
Unknown2005-11-29 04:54:01
Didn't we all decide Daganev is ape**** loco a long time ago, a decide to live with it?
Narsrim2005-11-29 04:55:17
I want that damn thread re-opened. There is nothing in it that even remotely constitues bug "abuse."
Unknown2005-11-29 05:01:59
Report it. I've used that report button two or three times and had my question/complaint answered quickly each time.
Narsrim2005-11-29 05:02:31
There is a report button?
Narsrim2005-11-29 05:03:06
I found it!
