You tell your clanmates in Serenwilde "Don't help serenwilde influence, help Celest instead" and unless you're the only ones in the village somebody is due to report it to their superiors and they would have to answer unkindly questions, even be considered traitors.
You can try to get people to talk in the boards of their organizations about peace and the like, but the moment they don't act as if their only aim was the betterment of their city/comune they'll lose power very fast, and get in trouble.

I used that as an example of the kind of thing you can do if you have a lot of people involved, say more than 50% of the playerbase. Obviously, most people like the conflict, so I won't get that many. I'll probably get a small but substancial amount, which isn't enough to dominate the universe (Damn!), but is enough to cause some pressure and sway people; there's a substancial part of the playerbase that doesn't like the constant conflict, either ICly, OOCly, or both. I'm trying to put them together; seriously, OOCly it's not an attempt at turning the Basin into a happy flower garden (The orgs principles aren't even based around eliminating conflict, just trying to point it into constructive things). It's just RP.

They said it couldn't be done. They said I was mad! Well, they were right about the second part, but yes, there are some people interested in a clan for pacifists and the such. It now exists, and I'm taking applications. And name suggestions.
Arix2005-12-01 04:07:00
should call it 'Insert Clan Name Here'

Social rejects.

Take the 'funny' suggestions to this thread.

I've been, for a while now, toying with the notion of creating a clan for the first completely neutral organization in the Basin. I still don't have a name for it, but it would work according to the following principles:
Try to stop as much violence as possible.
Help people in need and generally be nice.
Try to keep bad things from happening.
Try to keep a balance between civilization and nature.
Try to keep a balance by not letting any single org get too powerful. (IE, they wouldn't let anyone take all villages, and make sure everyone has at least one village.)
I'm sure there must be a handful of people who would like that; and an entirely player-run, player-created organization would definitely be something new. It would be a secret organization (Or else Murphy, Narsrim, et al, would start killing us off plane and on the highways). It also wouldn't be made out of just rogues; since it's primary objective is to keep the orgs of the Basin from doing something really stupid, or becoming too strong, it would have members everywhere.
Any ideas? Thoughts? Insults? Silly jokes about why it can't work? Anyone who would like to join such an organization is free to msg me in-game so that we can work on it.

The idea itself is great, but fair warning, if Kalo ever finds out, you'll hear hell raised from all eight corners of the earth. He'll accuse you of attempting to empower Civilization, which is an anti-thesis of Nature, as well if you ever mention the little bolded bit IC and Kalo finds out, he'll accuse you of being a traitor... And a well-founded one, too.

Tell you right now. Gregori sees any indication of this in the Serenwilde, it will be banned, enemied, and his barely supressed bloodlust side of him will come forth.

Until I have enough followers and phase two of the Master Plan (fnord) can begin, you all have nothing to worry about; I'm not planning a conspiracy to manipulate the village control in the Basin anytime soon.
What the organization will be doing, most of the time, is help people in need (charity) foster public debate, and generally be nice to people for a change.
Unfortunately, Kalo will find out - the organization, and its objectives, will be made pubilc soon enough. (But not the membership, which will be secret.) Of course, Kalo raising hell on me from all eight corners of the earth is nothing new.
As an update, it's now got a name. It's called the Walkers of the Peaceful Path, or just Walkers. You all should go read CLANHELP WALKERS and see what it's really about.

Just so you know, you have just wasted 500K. So far every person who has come on the forums to announce a nice unique clan with any thoughts about changing the status quo have quickly become enemied and hunted and just plain messed with. I hope it doesn't happen to you and you can find a new name and the like, but its a sad historical trend I've seen. Well maybe not deepnight, but it had a bumby begining.

The clan was donated, so nyah. And again, Deepnight worked out okay in the end; everything has a bumpy beginning (Wobbly spelling?).
Daganev2005-12-01 09:54:15
My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling, but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places." --Pooh

It worked out okay because everyone ignores me now, and I don't directly oppose any organization in anyway.
Every other organization has failled, because they had some kind of a stance on something everyone else didn't like. Who's going to argue with the pursuit of knowledge?
