it should be a ratio of (passive power generation)/(number of guards to effectively protect).

what i would love to see it certain places where you could climb up into the commune or something else...

EWWW i just had an idea (bad bad me) most of the serens get the ability to climb right? what if there was some way to link the forests over the road? it wouldn't interfere with the land below. perhaps just a 'canopy' exit (if the builders have the ability to make named 'somewhere' exits i believe that how you would do it aslong as they can exist only in the tree level otherwise just like the entrance to Maeves tree.) Actually it would be nice if there were a few modified paths at tree/flying level though because it's just elevation i doubt more than a few tree top paths would come of this if implemented
Tsuki2005-12-07 12:08:10
Maybe I'm just misreading, but the northern and southern Serenwilde sections are linked (sounds like you believe the road completely separates them, Saran?) ... if you swim along the Moon River, you go through an underground tunnel. 'Underground river.' is southern Serenwilde and the next room northeast, 'Flowing beneath tree roots.' is northern Serenwilde.

And yeah, I hadn't thought of the power and am unaware of the relative size of Glomdoring compared to the Serenwilde, YolF ... personally, I think I'd prefer if the northern and southern zones were one even if they needed to reduce our totem generation to make it more equal to what Glomdoring is capable of generating.
Saran2005-12-07 12:21:32
It's not that i believe it completely separates them i'm just thinking that we might be able to use our abilities to perhaps climb up in a certain location and have a clear sprinting route (though a somewhere exit would null it)
so there could be say one such path above mother allowing us to get to those circles the serenguard use

effectivly this would allow quick access without actually making a major change

It's not like you can't walk across the highway now. I don't think the issue is access, as much as it is the implications of one geographic location being two distinct hardcoded areas.
Sylphas2005-12-08 06:24:09
Yeah, I can get there easily, without even bothering to sprint, but it's more for things like scan/scent and hearing trees fall. Also, druids can't have effects active in both halves at once, which is silly.

EDIT: Borrowing Narsrims equation from the "Not fair!" thread, if possible, guarding every entance Tsuki listed would work out as
15 guards X 25 each X 43 locations = 16125 power a month.

heh, we could afford to do that for 37 days, and then our nexus would be empty, fun-fun! laugh.gif
Saran2005-12-08 16:33:05
well it does give good reason for us getting more passive power generation
Arix2005-12-08 19:56:39
I agree with most of you, north and South Serenwilde should be all one local area. And I think Saran had a good idea about linking the forests over the road.
Sylphas2005-12-09 06:11:58
Screw the road, make it part of Serenwilde. Why is it such an issue, when the it already happens with both cities? Go around through the mountains, swim the ocean. It's what I did when enemied to the other three orgs, and it's not really much trouble.
Daganev2005-12-09 06:44:32
wouldn't that require building a path into the mountains?

Its interesting how after all this time I still don't know the areas north of halifax and north of celest.
Sylphas2005-12-09 06:47:26
You'd have to cut through Avechna, or swim up the Toronada. If you're heading that way though, that's not out of your way, because there's nothing between triple junction and Celest but Serenwilde.
Unknown2005-12-09 06:48:39
You can walk from Avechna's peak through the mountains to the Toscha monastery behind Serenwilde, or you can swim from the Toronada delta to Celest's docks.

I can see that if the road becomes part of serenwilde (which is probably a good idea), a small area or shortcut into the mountains on either side of the forest would be handy.

Though I've always felt something should go between the highway and the mountains to the northwest of serenwilde. I have this odd sense of a gap there. Maybe my map is just a bit lopsided. giggle.gif
Sylphas2005-12-09 07:07:02
I've always felt that way too. Oleanvir is between Celest and Serenwilde, but the next thing on the other side is Estelbar, if you don't count the fork towards Avechna, and it's a bit of a hike to get there. It feels like something is missing.
Morik2005-12-09 08:18:42
Sylphas ..

.. you mean like, hm.. the Ackleberry forest? smile.gif
Sylphas2005-12-09 08:32:31
No. Not at all. Ackleberry is past the fork towards Estelbar, and while I'm not quite sure, I think it's actually between Estelbar and Hallifax. We're talking about the spot between Seren and the fork.
Unknown2005-12-09 08:37:26
No, I meant west of the Serenwilde. tongue.gif
Sylphas2005-12-09 08:40:48
Oh. That doesn't feel as empty, because of Oleanvir, I think, and how the road is set up. But yeah, something there would be nice too. There's actually a lot of room for expansion inside the Basin.
Iridiel2005-12-09 11:27:55
Maybe Serenwilde could try to RP a building project about moving the highway to the north of northern Serenwilde and covering the old road in trees? Like "we don't want so much traffic on our forests, let's call for the dwarves aid to build a new road north of serenwilde right under the mountains and close the old one". Maybe it could be tried when Serenwilde has the control of two dwarven villages, or has crowned the king in the one they control, as a way for the kind to be grateful for having been crowned?
Gregori2005-12-09 12:02:11
Or Hartstone could just keep foresting the road and plant statues all along it until the road decays from lack of use and the forest overgrows it. Not sure why were the only territory that has to be sliced in half.

Because we're the biggest tongue.gif

I do think we should give up some of our totem's passive power generation for a more consolidated forest. Seems fair to me at least.
