Quit hijacking my thread! *sob*

Well, whose thread are we supposed to hijack?

For those who are interested to do the math from Farenheit to Celsius, it's: (5*(x-32))/9
Example: 70° F would convert to (5*(70-32))/9 = 190/9 = ~21.1°C

Back on topic!
Glomdoring is always fairly warm. It's right next door to a swamp, so I'd also imagine fairly humid.
I'm sitting at my desk wearing a winter coat right now, but around November of this year, we were still having highs in the 80's. We have notoriously fickle winters here in Nebraska. Back when I lived in Houston (a fairly warm and humid place), winter days with highs in the 70's was pretty much the norm.

It's 40-ish around here this time of year, and where my ex lives, it's like 0 there.
Terenas2005-12-09 18:56:07
Why is this in General?
Xavius2005-12-09 19:13:55
Because we're talking about Glomdoring.

Nebraska = Glomdoring! I'm so moving there.

Both forests have swamps in them, and then there is Balach Swamp. Can someone get a temperature read out for Glomdoring, Serenwilde and Balach and compare to see if its just the swamp variable?
Serenwilde could be warmer due to it being north, or colder for the same reasons. We dont know exactly where we are on the map (in comparison to the rest of the world, we know where we are on the Basin map) and Balach could be the same, as with Glomdoring.

Sorry, I forgot to add in the original post that it was 68 at the time at the moonhart, per Klia.
Xavius2005-12-09 20:07:07
Glomdoring is, quite consistently, the hottest place in the Basin. Skarch will occasionally push it into second place, but that's about it.
Vix2005-12-09 22:21:22
All of that tain- er, wyrden must have warped the climate as well.
Oh, and on a sidenode, when the majority of the players of IRE are not from the US, you can have your silly metrics.

Very, very odd indeed, since Estarra once assured me that the basin straddled the equator. That would put Glomdoring and Serenwilde in pretty much the same climate zone, and should actually make Skarch something of a cold desert (cold dessert?).
Odder still is the realization that the seasons are identical at both extremities of the basin, so the northern winter is also the southern winter, etc. What mystical magics make this possible, do you suppose?

No, I'm not buying that. When your silly American systems count, you can get Auseklis to come back and undo all the spelling corrections He made in open BETA!

Ah, good ol' cultural dominance comes back into play. Our American systems count because we've effectively taken over the world, bud. You eat our foods, follow our fads a couple years behind us, and you understand a system you don't even use simply because we're the ones who use it. If the old imperial system were only used in Portugal these days, do you think you'd know what a degree Fahrenheit is?
Here, have a cookie.

Rubbish. That's OUR system, not yours. We understand it because we -keep- using it. You've not taken over the world, you just like to think you have. Poor insecure people.

I'm almost to the point where I think it would be awesome for Britain to suddenly pull out some ninjas or something and whip our ass, and take over the world. Our government takes the whole "we're the best, you all we'll do what want" thing a bit too far.

I'd rather it be Spain, myself. There is something sexy about a spanish ninja.

Has anyone seen "Johnny English"? Hilarious James Bond parody where we basically do exactly that when the French try to take over England and turn it into a giant prison colony.
