Do you gain insanity, Aesyra?
Unknown2005-12-05 06:32:45
And yea Titan/Demigod get neutrotic just fine.. I'm still highly neurotic from yesterday and I don't have much time to spend around.. so it'll be a while till I can do much of anything again.
EDIT: As a side note. I'm imagining a level 80 tanky knight can hunt Astral whereas a level 80 Mugwump mage/druid etc might have problems. To balance this out, could it be possible to make the mobs to a standard set of damage plus a certain percentage of max health? I think people with 2-3k health should still have problems, but those that are that high level already should at least all have a chance to hunt up there and that not depending whether they are a high level tanky knight or a somewhat fragile high level mage.

Although yes, I think that the consequences of Astral insanity should be changed into something more interesting than constant stupidity.

Either ask Diamante about some of the higher effects(he didn't even find out the larger ones), or go get really insane yourself. I have lost count how many times it has been clearly stated, the stupidity effect is one of the lowest level effects(there is another before it, but I don't think many have noticed it).

I think we should discover another planar level below Prime, which is fragmented into twice as many spheres as Astral, has equally as difficult and summonable mobs, but they are all non-combatable and are aggressive influencers.
Oh, and it can only be reached by transversing down through the roots of the two commune trees, or by cubix.
Then things would be happy again.

At least make Newton accesible for us again....gnomes and finks were good gold... Probably the only free goldsource from now on.

And that's a problem. That makes it the most common thing seen. When you come down off of astral to rest, you'll eventually get to a point where you've got stupidity, and everyone around you is just seeing you doing really messed up stuff and making a nuisance of yourself. You can't really try to RP or do anything, because of it.
Unknown2005-12-05 06:42:52
I agree, we need a underworld, well proper sub prime realm, i mean, we can go up, makes sense we can go down! Actually, it'd be nice instead of the double spheres, that it's just the proper Lusternian Zodiac, and having the communes access it only, with the whole, roots of the world, theme.

Actually I saw a group of Serens RP'ing the insanity, with a fairly high rate of stupidity. You realize that it takes an hour of being on Astral before you are at the same rate of failure that being afflicted with stupidity has?

Prime example of why stupidity needs to go. I mean, you've been down off of astral for an hour, you're talking to friends, and suddenly you start yelling about cheese, or goats, or fondling yourself. Hooray?

Doesn't matter WHAT the rate is. Even one or two yells about goats and cheese are pretty bad.

whine whine whine whine whine you've bashed Astral and now you're stupid. Whine whine whine, Don't Bash Astral. The whole point is that you're going to be slightly insane after you've bashed it so it seems perfectly fine that you're a gibbering mess.
What, you can't stock shops, act in public/private, sex up your mistress? Wow, who woulda thought an insanely neurotic person would act perfectly appropriate.
What this DOES mean is that people need to participate more in a trade. So Admin: Could you please re-evaluate the tradeskills and make things reasonably competitive if you're not transcendant?

We need new sources of experience badly. And there's already a thread about it: http://lusternia.ire-community.com/index.php?showtopic=7153

You really should do some research into psychoses. You could meet a sociopath and never know it. In fact, that's not too uncommon
Ashteru2005-12-05 06:49:54
So yeah, we have now Moors, Bondero, Sharks, Water, Earth, Shallach, Katas to gain experience and gold, huh? Well.....if THIS won't lower the credit prices, nothing will. At least I can bash the catas and might still be able to make some gold. Shallach and Inner Sea falls away since I am enemied to Shallach and Landantine, so....well.....that change pretty much screwed my chance to ever trans anything with IG credits.
Not to mention that I won't even be Demigod in a year. Hell, I gained 15% from bashing Astral yesterday, as a human with Harmony blessing. Is that much? Yep, but I am only level 80. Gold and ultrastrong mobs, I would have enjoyed. normal mobs and no gold still would screw a lot, but I could've hunted. Ultrastrong mobs without gold AND insanity....well, byeybe, Astral.

Perhaps I'm just a rare exception, but old school Astral didn't make me more gold - it made shopkeepers more gold. It meant I could bulk up on herbs, it meant I could but lots and lots of greatrobes till I got a set that was just right, it meant I could buy all kinds of junk items like sandals that do me absolutely no good, but hey, they look nice.
It is back to being poor and not shopping

First, I do not see how you get your logic. Astral did not make the people have trans skills, (for the most part) It did provide quite a bit of experience, but in no way was astral the unbalancing factor in terms of combat. Plus, your arguement that by having this change will make the good fighters on more level terms with the lower level and might fighters is so unfounded its funny. WHY ON EARTH, should someone who a) spent the time learning to fight invested the time, gold , and overall patience to get to where they are, and c) been a round a LOT longer than younger players, suddenly have to be on a level playing field because of a game mechanic. Again, if you wanted purely hardcoded balance not affected at all by time, skill, and ability, then just give everyone newbie kick, and call it a day. Verithrax, theres a reason that the VAST majority of people who have come to the forums saying this change is bad are the ones who are active combatants, and generally well-involved people in the dynamics of lusternia, and theres a reason why its mostly low leveled non-involved combatants/bashers that are saying its fair.
Now if you think this change makes it equal, because we have to hunt the same spots as you for gold, think again. I guarantee I can bash out the gorgogs in just a few minutes, or clear all the moors in a short bit, MUCH faster than the low to mid level kids can. Aside from the heavy damage I deal, the high critical, most of us high level guys have already done the things you kids do, and know how to do them better faster, and more efficiently than a novice or mid level player can. -note- not coming down on the little guys, just saying, if we need the gold, your bashing grounds become ours. Remember the threads about aesyra? Now add in 30-40 high level hunters that no longer have a place to spend a lot of time bashing away from prime
Sounds fun? we'll see
