Since everyone's been talking about getting player RP events started and Estarra seems to be encouraging people to do so, I have a few ideas for things I'd like to try to do but I'm not sure how I should go about getting Divine help in accomplishing them (as they're big kinds of things, not things I can do on my own).
What should I do? Make a public/city/council news post? Post here? Issue myself? Talk to my patron? Email support?
Could a divine respond so I know how to get started?

Don't email support.
The best way is to post on the plots board. Other than that, you need to get the attention of a god.

Okay, thanks!

Does an events email exist here like it did in Achaea?
Raezon2005-12-06 01:23:55
It's been replaced by the plots board.
Aiwendil2005-12-06 02:12:19
Plots board? Where? And if we want the attention of a god, do we just send them a tell or message?

News summary for Nejii:
Public: Read 610/610 articles.
Announce: Read 479/479 articles.
Politics: Read 402/402 articles.
Events: Read 43/43 articles.
Plots: Read 0/58 articles.
It's just greyed out since you can't read it and the green on the news was making everyone hyperventilate from stress.

If you want a particular god, you could send a message I guess. Though for behind the scenes work it doesn't matter who's running the illusions. Like it's been said, the plots board is for that.
Richter2005-12-06 02:24:58
I sent messages/tells to Isune/Fain when I did some of my older character RP.

I'll repeat the advice I put in the Insanity thread because it belongs here:
"A hollow voice says, 'Fool'" is better than "I don't know the word Xyzzy". If you're a god, and you know someone is starting a roleplay event, the very least you can do is provide some orange smoke. Even if nothing effectively happens, getting a non-standard reply to what you do from the game contributes immensely to the player's immersion, and it sends the message that Someone is paying attention. Even if you can't give a player-initiated event a world-changing conclusion of some sort, you'll contribute a lot if you just make something happen.
And Hajamin, if you don't know what "A hollow voice says 'Fool'", "Xyzzy", and "Orange smoke" refer to, you have no business coding text games

By this same logic, Verithrax, if you have no idea what "Here rest thy bones", "He plow'd the Tyrrhene seas," and "Like fury seiz'd the rest," refer to, you have no business reading text games.
We live in the age of information overload already.

I'm joking. I know the chances of someone getting that terribly obscure reference to certain text adventure games of the 80's are low enough. Why is it that every time I send a joke, I get a logical argument back?

Because a lot of your "logical" arguments are pretty humourous themselves... Really.

Generally if you going to try to do some rp event. What we did on aetolia was contact a god or admin ask them oocly when they would have some free time to do said event and try to set it all up, now talking oocly isn't always welcomed by most gods. But if you get one that doesn't mind helping out with player events then generally you can have alot of fun with it. We set up a event where my priest severed his angel from the Triad, and bound him only to my priest. It spurred alot of rp from both evil groups and the light groups. If you really want to try to rp somthing, talk to a god and try to work somthing out. Generally i have noticed on lusternia most of the gods WANT to help players roleplay. So i wouldn't be to shy about asking. Or as Estarra said use that plots board.

Doing that would be a really good way to find yourself with 0 rolepoints. Gods are IC, don't even try to go OOC with them. You can msg an admin god, or use issues if you need help with something. We also have the plots board that you can post too.
Verithrax2005-12-07 14:33:57
I thought the plots board was for suggesting world-wide god-run plots, not for asking for help with player-started RP events.
Iridiel2005-12-07 14:37:23
I think ISSUE ME Would be safe enough to attempt talking ooc with the Divines

I'm just a little confused, and slow. But, isn't messaging a God and asking them to help with the implementation of your personal role-play event going OOC? I mean, you're telling them what the plot's gonna be, asking them to help with illusions, possible appearances, mob possession, maybe items made or something... Things your character wouldn't know about because it hasn't happened yet. You the player are planning it. Why's it better then to do this via in game messages to the God than via out of the game IMs to the God's player? Not arguing, just asking. I'll message in game if I ever need a God's help, but I am curious is all.
