Just curious:
I usually hunt around my characters communes/city and only visit the villages they control. Lately, I've been really wanting to finish the Stewartsville quest, but its under Serenwilde's control and I'd hate be half way done and get bullied out.
I sat down and thought about it the other day. I was in Dairuchi the other day and found a non-glom/mag novice roaming around and politely asked their business. They replied saying that they were trying to learn about to becoming a rockeater trainer, or something to that effect. So, I just told them to behave themselves. I honors the character and found that it was a novice and that had something to do with what I said, too. But I don't do this just to novices, I do it to everyone. If they are not on the commune enemy list, is a novice, seem to just be exploring or completing a quest, I tell them to keep their nose's clean or they should expect trouble. That's just my character's RP. But I remember back in the days of my novice hood, I have been yelled at, threaten and some more stuff just for exploring and quest hunting. Sometimes, I was actually helping (turning in cows, chickens and stuff). I think that was before I actually realized it was better just to go to my own city's villages.
Anywho, what's the general opinion on this. Do you think that EVERY character that enters your village that isn't currently aligned with you is a threat? I know some players have established themselves as peaceful, do you allow them to roam freely in and out of the villages?
Well hope this question makes sense. I wanted to post before I head off to classes. It's weird I haven't had much experience with this in-game, all I ever run into are novices.

I generally don't care about what novices and non enemies do. I feel bad that novices are restricted this way actually. When I was new to the game and someone told me I couldn't enter a village I think I would have cried.
"But.. but I want to do this quest."
I wish the organizations would lift their bans and treat novices a bit better. They could be seen as young people who can still be molded to join their cause. No reason to limit them to the places they can visit. Being young is about exploring and so on. Poor young people shouldn't be limited this way.

I treat my enemies like absolute garbage, even to the extent of forcing them out of the city if they find their way in.
i don't however, kill them. They learn very quickly that magnagora is a bad, evil place filled with grumpy bonecrushers with bad tempers.
A lot of them remember me later down the track too, its quite endearing at times.

I guess it depends on who you are. I personally have few enemies, and as for enemies of Glomdoring... Well, Xenthos decided to CDF me because I loaned gold to Diamante. It shows the extremes people go to, with him disfavouring me for something simple, and me not really caring. Both of those were within our roles too.
My entire company is full of enemies of Glomdoring too, so I guess personally, I don't care a lot, but my character is pretty laid back and diplomatic, much to my superiors' irritation. I was on ethereal the other day, following Murphy while he killed Geb. When Murphy lost, I kind of shrugged, doffed my helm at him, and walked out.
Play within the role of your character in regards to enemies, as well as everything else. Just try to treat newbies a little better than the rest of them, because they're the future players of Lusternia. If a novice Serenwilder walks into Glomdoring, I'm likely to send him a tell saying, "You know, Glomdoring is an enemy organization of Serenwilde, you might not want to hang out here, people will start to get a little uppity." If I was a novice, trying out Lusternia, and I got viciously chased out of everywhere I went, I'd quit.
Heck, I'm still irritated when I get chased out of places, since I'm only enemied to Delport and the Mesa.
Didn't mean to make the post so long... so, just treat enemies the way your character should. *nod me*

Yea, I agree. When I was a newbie, that was one of the reasons I left in the beginning. I think my city had either just one or no villages at all, so everywhere I went I got kicked out. I left for a while, but boredom brought me back. Usually some just leave and never come back.
My character is pretty neutral. If you are Aslaren or a novice, she'll treat you pretty nice. Basically, most people will get a basic level of respect from her unless you happened to an enemy of the guild or commune.

This apparantly extends to places outside Magnagora. Just a warning for people who want to heed Murphy's "warning."

I do like how the story changes. After I killed Murphy, I turned toward you and told you to leave Faethorn. You became upset, and asked some question about why was I forcing you out of Faethorn. I replied to your question giving you the indication it was you being guilty by association. I gave you to the count of 3 to leave, you ran back to the archway leading to Glom. From there, you started yelling at me about how sick I make you feel and such. So you did not just shrug and let bygones be bygones, like you would try to have it seem in your statement above.
*note: The story above also shows how I treat enemies. I normally give them a chance to leave the area, as you can see.

Amusing, why people lie I don't get.
Soll2005-12-05 22:25:33
I'd love to use that example in a debate about 'The nature of truth, and its varying interpretations.'
Both stories are true to the writer due to a difference in how one viewed and/or remembered what occured. What really occured may or may not be different to what has been stated above. But I deviate.

Woo, Geb polices faethorn too!
Eh, I treat novices well enough. Enemies are shown very little mercy though.

Awww.... I thought Ash and Mal could meet up and have a bath together with Diamante and Elryn.

Actually, I think Geb's right. I just have a terrible memory. I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong, even it if is rarely. *tease*

Depending on whether it is a novice or not, Laneth is usually fairly snide and abrupt, and somewhat condescending (though I don't know how much of the condescension comes across). I don't tell them to leave unless they are enemies or well-known trouble makers, but I will watch them and sometimes even follow them around. If after a while they are just going about their business, I will leave them be and just resort to checking up on them with scent or astrosense.
I try to strike a balance between allowing others to enjoy the game as it has been designed and sticking to the isolationist and somewhat arrogant role I have set for my character. I'm not sure how well I do it, but there we go .

Joli2005-12-05 22:33:26
Joli doesn't really care about her enemies. Seeing as how my enemies just kind of swapped around a bit. I think I'm getting used to it rather quickly.
Dunno.. Joli still thinks of Geb as her dad even though I know he would kill me if I was in the wrong place.

Geb does love his daughter, but that does not mean he will not kill her if she was in a raid against his city. Call it tough love.

haha yea and then you get the ones that are stubburn like me who are about as relentless as you. I treat my enemies like murphy dose actually I have no shame in being a bitch to them some like lyco daevos and murphy i really don't mind because i fight them so much and die so much its to the point of fun and they don't know that i learn something every battle muwahahahah
Acrune2005-12-05 23:30:49
Acrune doesn't let any tainted in Celest or any villages we may have, unless he has been asked by a superior to allow him or her access. I've had a few occations when I had to force people to leave. Really, if you ever expect to see the organization you've walked in to on the other side of the battlefield, its not unreasonable for them to demand that you leave, no matter what age or nature.
Shamarah2005-12-06 00:11:04
I generally allow Mag/Glom novices to wander around the city, any non-novices I ask to leave. (and kill if they refuse.)
