Can GMs and Guild Archivists please, please, please have librarian-privs at Guild Libraries?

No, this is squarely in the province of the Guild Administrator. We'll consider giving guild archivists SOME librarian powers, but definitely not all of them.

Having some powers at least would be useful I think. As it is, I think all we get as an Archivist is the ability to write books for the guild?

Yeah, right now there isn't much point to being an archivist, as far as I can see. Would be nice if there was more reason to have some.

Understandable, but can Archivists get the following private Librarian privs then:
BOOKSHELF SHELVE
BOOKSHELF UNSHELVE
BOOKSHELF SET
That leaves Library Card Admin, and Naming the Library for the GA alone.
Nokraenom2005-12-06 00:51:17
Oh, and can there be a BROWSE ALL command too, which lists all shelved books you have access to? It'd help to be able to see the overall picture of the Library.

There's no way anyone other than one person (i.e., GA) will get the UNSHELVE command as it permanetly removes a book from the library. That would enable an archivist to strip a library bare which is probably not a power you'd want more than one person to have (as you can imagine the mischief involved--not to mention cost as libraries can represent quite a chunk of change).
Xenthos2005-12-06 01:55:26
I have to say that I'm somewhat annoyed about this whole library thing, as I'm suddenly a librarian without having any knowledge or consent to it... and not only that, I can't even delegate it to someone who WANTS to be a librarian. And I didn't even realize I was until this thread. Curse you, Nokraenom.

Perhaps the GA can be given the power to delegate all the library powers to one person then? It still keeps the power in one set of hands, just lightens the work load if need be.
Eg. The Wisdom of Knowledge in the Moondancers would make a suitable librarian.

Not when she's mostly inactive Or claims she is.
I'm really happy about the libraries, and I really want to create one for the Moondancers, but I'm waiting for more interesting bookshelf designs to go through. Hopefully ones that use a bit less wood and a bit more pretty things because pretty things are cheaper than wood

Yes, that did come as a surprise to me.
