New skills don't solve the problem, and in fact, compound it. New skills mean more things for the admins to debug and balance, more stuff for us to whine about here, and they only create a sense of newness for the 10% of the playerbase that 1] can learn them and 2] are willing to give up whatever skill they had before to take the new skillset. New skills are cool and all, but they further delay the release of things like new areas and interesting plots.
The Isune stuff was largely overlooked by the playerbase, had no impact for most people, and didn't change a thing outside of Glomdoring. Much of the same with the Wyrd stuff, though it did change some of our views a bit. I mean, Isune is awesome and all, but it just doesn't feel like anything actually happened. Maybe I'm just expecting too much after the Kethuru event, which started in the first month or two I was playing Lusternia, and after it, there just hasn't been anything I found interesting event-wise, though I missed a few of the events, such as the Astrology one.
Meh, it seems like every event exists only to introduce a new organization, a new skillset, or a new god. Why can't we just have events for the fun of them? Even world-changing ones that don't actually introduce new organizations, new skillsets, or new gods?

I know I kind of berated Aesyra a bit, but you know what we need? A main story event. We've had so few events that tie into the main story (a continuation of the histories). The Kethuru thing was awesome, I wish there was more on the lost cities, the soulless gods, or other stuff.

*sigh* I really really dislike how so many people are leaving. Is there anyone left in Celest whom Lommy has ever interacted with? Don't think so... safe for Amaru, maybe.
Be well Aesyra, you'll be missed greatly.

And: If we really want an event we have all we need for it. Players willing to get involved, a huge interactive realm, means to communicate and figure out a plot outline, and admin who're more than willing to lend a helping hand if they can see some substance behind the request...

Nothing really significant or extremely interesting has happened since Kethuru.
Edit: And yeah, I just noticed that Shorlen pretty much said the same thing earlier.

Quoted for truth. Actually, the Dreamweaving event was interesting, but I can't remember if that was before or after Kethuru.
In any case, yes, there hasn't been anything world-changing since Kethuru. Isune's return was great and all, and so was Elcyrion's appearance, but they didn't really affect much of anything. And the Wyrd thing sounds interesting, but frankly... I didn't care. It didn't affect me, it didn't affect my character. Celest and Serenwilde both still see Glomdoring in the same way they saw it before the wyrd (the general consensus is wyrd = pretty taint), and so does Magnagora as far as I know.
Where are the big events?
Soll2005-12-14 22:59:11
Interspersed with the completion of Lusternia's 100 page report, I imagine.

I just wonder if this will happen when others start reaching Demi god. They've "won" the game so they just skip off? Yeah it is a game. and there is a highest honor. But it should be more than that..
And of course the board is ooc.. but tell me Mag players, you aren't breathing a bit easier? They this won't have some effect of your you do things even though it is ooc.

There is actually something players have been geting involved with and trying to release for some time now *cough cough* But I agree, we need more events that will draw in more players

We have two titans compare to one Demi God, Aesyra in the combat world was only good for killing demi gods.
Peeka2005-12-14 23:07:45
Hmm, is there a possibility that half of Celest could revolt and form their own little city?
Kaileigh2005-12-14 23:27:45
Tell me, for certain, Aesyra's announce absense here will not affect your tactics or plans in game any way.
Peeka- not if they want power.

Will have to ask daevos, but from what I know is we will continue to do things how we been doing them

Well, Celest's collective IQ just dropped from -40 to -53.
Hoard essence, Aesyra. Grief Magnagora, slaughter all our guards, pwn the Demon Lords five times each day. You're out of goals? Here's a new one. Reduce the Megalith to 500 power.
That should keep you busy.
As I sidenote, I love how Aesyra is considered a higher authority than even Shamarah in Celest. Whenever any question is asked or request made you hear an echo of 'ask Aesyra'.

The Wyrd means nothing. It's just there to stop people from bitching about Glomdoring's 'tainted' status. As far as I can tell the only things that have happened involving it since its introduction are a handful of dedicated scholars ranting about its nature to each other. I hope like hell that I'm wrong, because some really interesting stuff could be done with it.

To be fair, I think Aesyra is more likely to want to do the solo stuff--quests, leveling, bashing. And she sort of reached the pinnacle of it. Since there is more or less a level limit, she can't really go any higher. So if you're not as into it for the PvP reaction, then there are limits.
How was Kethuru really "world changing", actually?
I mean, Viravain was released and Isune left, but her coming back and Elcyrion appearing, as well as all the new skills, is kind of world-changing somewhat.
I think the are listening to the players, it's just the players are hard to read. You guys wanted something to bring back morale to Celest--Isune comes back. Nobody cares, apparently--Celest seemed a bit apathetic towards her. Some people wanted more peaceful ways--bam, Elcyrion. You guys wanted potential to bring the communes together--bam, the taint changing to the Wyrd. But some of these opportunites are not acted upon. Astral changed--can't believe people don't consider that a change. I mean, they are listening.
Considering the player base isn't enough to support a new city or commune yet--what would you really like? And--I'm sorry to bring this up, but based on all the whining that happens whenever something new occurs, how do you expect them to read what you guys want without upsetting some people.
I think they are trying to make the game player-centric first, so maybe players have to organize things and let the gods react to that, rather than them leading the bull by the horns.
