Some clients use something called MCCP (Mud Client Compression Protocol) or something like that to compress the text being sent from the server to the clients. Reduces bandwidth costs and what not. Just as a wild guess, I would say that your client missed decoding a block for some reason, and the encoded data got displayed instead of what should've been displayed.
What client are you using out of curiosity? It may have just been a freak occurance, or you might want to talk to the developers who make the client if it happens more than once.

I'd say Nexus had a bit of a spac attack, and forgot how to read the information the server was sending it. Something to do with an atcp error, or something like that?

Aye, that's the hidden data Lusternia sends to Nexus to update its stat displays. Handy, especially since it keeps sending those even without a prompt.
Back when I noticed it around the time the new Nexus first came out I pondered on parsing it for zMud, but you'd have to fake being Nexus to get that data line and thus probably mess up Nexus bugtracking, also we're not really supposed to have that information in a neat line like this in an environment where we can parse it.
Or at least those are the thoughts I had back then and admittedly I didn't spend much time on it.

Mmm. Hidden Data.
That status line is semi-documented in the rapture manual. I think you need to have telnet option 200 negotiated to get it, unless there's something else that's involved. Might not be able to parse it with zMud, but if someone wanted to add a module to tf that enables that option and parses the output, you could compile it into the executable and have a nice auto-updating status bar.
