How would I make a Ctrl-D macro that sipped health??

Usual question, what client are you using?

ZMud

You click on Macros, you click on new, in the keyline, you just press the keys and then it jumps into the lower field and there you just write 'drink health' in.

when I do Ctrl-D a record alias command box pops up

You won't be able to make that macro very easily, zMUD has it as the shortcut for recording a new alias.

In prefrences you can change the shortcuts that zmud uses and the special charachters they use if you need to.

Just for future reference, there's a setting in zMUD for allowing any key to be a macro.
View -> Preferences -> General -> Command Line -> Allow any key to be macro
View -> Preferences -> General -> Command Line -> Allow any key to be macro
