Not to mention the fact that novices protected from harm, can now run around for you doing your power quests without fear of the gorgogs attacking them, heck they can do most of the Gorgog quest without fear of Gorgogs attacking them too.

When gorgogs are released, Celest and Magnagora cant do sand/spectres power quest.

In regards to the spectres being not good exp.. that's not true at all. I've hunted -only- them from level 21-78 as Nihilist and I was ranked among the top #5 back then already. They are -damn- good exp and gold.. especially the spiking quest. The sand quest is easier.. but more annoying and gives less.
Kaervas2005-12-22 12:35:47
Even I still do the spectre quest, the gold isn't bad and I clear the place out in a few minutes. The only thing that really bugs me is that the beggars can walk off when you've given them the soup and you can only be given about 8 spikes total, even if you've handed in enough spectres for 12 so you're forced to stagger how many you give which makes it take longer.
Edit: And I've just tried it again and the damn beggars walked away 3 times just as they were about to follow.

Sylphas2005-12-22 13:10:20
Follow them. It takes good timing, but I manage it with furrikin.
Kaervas2005-12-22 13:23:00
I don't think I'm quite quick enough that I can follow in the millisecond they move before they're supposed to follow, plus there's often a few beggars to a room so you can't tell if the one you gave soup to left.
Unknown2005-12-22 13:48:19
It doesn't happen that often, and most of the time you can make it in time. You probably were unlucky this time. It is annoying though.
Kaervas2005-12-22 13:57:09
I must be really unlucky then because it always happens to me.

So THAT'S why I come in with 11 flask and end up with 8 spikes!
I've never done the sands quest, but I've done the others (shadows/pixies/spectres) and I have to say that I prefer the spectre quest. You can't do it as a novice but, if you know how to bash well, you can pull it off after leaving newton (though there's better places at first). It's a nice quest overall, though.
As for the gorgogs, they are annoying, but it is true that novices realy shouldn't be attacked by them. The power quests are disabled and everything else you need to do in the seas/bay are either too rough for them or will get them enemied to the other side. As such, the only novices who die are the ones who are exploratory (and, thus, have probably already went east of Magnagora). Still, there's no reason why we can't have gorgogs ignore folks level L20 or under like the spiders do.
As for the quest: I don't know. I can't make any real arguments because I still don't know how to do it. If it is getting botched due to it being 'buggy', though then it needs to be fixed: buggy things should not be affecting the game, simply put.
Also, it is sounding like it's rather easy to stop the quest from happening, either to open or close the rift. After seeing how the dynamics of the Sea battle go (which, IMO, is one of the better designed of the conflict quests) I think that quests like the gorgog one should be hard to prevent but easy to counter. It helps stop frustration, since you know you don't have to sit there 24/7 to stop it from happening, BUT you can spend a little time and set it the way you want it set.
Shiri2005-12-22 15:05:33
I don't remember ever doing spectres, but I would much rather have sands than pixies or crow shadows, having done both of those.
Ashteru2005-12-22 15:34:40
crows isn't even gold....at least pixies and sands are...

Crow shadows also arent killable so
Verithrax2005-12-24 11:47:46
I think that, for the sake of conflict, there should be ways for every org to harm every other org, Power-wise. Hopefully those will all be off-prime, so that we don't get people being jumped for no reason even more than we do. Generally, we need more quests that affect things on a Basin-wide scale, rather than quests that are just gold/experience sources. Ideally, we should have new quests that serve both as a way of generating gold and experience and as a way of affecting other organizations, located off prime.
Sylphas2005-12-24 12:04:07
What if I want to quest without being enemied, getting jumped, or just without screwing anyone?

Comm quests, village honours quests... Although I think that some quests that help orgs, instead of harming them, could be interesting too. I just like the idea of quests that affect the state of affairs in the Basin, but they don't have to be all like that.

Please don't say "Communes do this!", when you yourself do it. Not to mention the fact that when the rift was open;
1) Celest put in a very mediocre attempt to try and close it
2) Magnagora put in a very mediocre attempt to try and close it
3) Celest jumped/attacked/guild enemied the person who was putting more than a mediocre attempt into trying to close it (incidently a Commune person at that)
Edit:: In response to Novices getting killed:
If your novices are getting killed that is not the quests fault. That is your fault, and indicative of Celest's atmosphere of not caring and cast the blame. If you know the rift is open and NOT telling your novices to stay out of the Sea and find some other quest to do for now, then the fault is your own. You can't blame a quest for your cities lack of looking after its people.
However, if you have warned the Novices, with guild posts and city posts, and they are still dying, then that is the stupidity of themselves, again not the fault of the quest.

If I remember right, Aesyra wasn't always a Celestian. so she can't be blamed for stuff she did prior to joining.

You want to harm the organization you belong to for personal gain?
Man. If your mindset is the prevalent one in Celest, it's no wonder you guys suck.
