How about making changes to existing races, such as giving the Trill a language already? I mean come on, Lucidians have a language, why not Trill? They helped build Hallifax too, you know
Richter2005-12-27 19:59:05
I think we should just splinter some existing gods.
A deafening boom sounds across the Basin as Hajamin scatters his essence to the four winds.
***A new race has become playable, Haji-mon!***
You blink.
Estarra blinks.
Joli says, "Oh hells yes."

I can see it now:
Someone shouts, " Bleh, I just stepped in Hajamin essence."
Someone shouts, " Bleh, I just stepped in Hajamin essence."

If we ever splinter an Elder God, it should so be Roark. Haji-mon would be overpowered, since they'd be racially immune to sleep. Roarkians would just be racially immune to clothing.

And they'd go around spouting off bits of Randian philosopy.

I like that spider idea someone had...but here's some suggestions from me
Well...in Dawn of War (A futuristic sci-fi strategy game) there's this race called the Necrons. Now Necrons...are...pretty freaky looking. Think...skeleton, but made with metal, and filled with a sort of green substance...well, wouldn't it be cool if Lusty had them as well? I mean, like...just say that they were made as a last resort to help spread (or combat) the Taint by a god or something and give them these stats (BTW, in DOW they regenerate health, WOOT HEALTH REGEN!!!111!!!!
STR: 12 INT:14 DEX: 10 CHA: 9 CON: 13 SIZE: 12
Advantages: Have their own language, Necroni
Health regen: level 1
Resistance to blunt: level 2
Resistance to cutting: level 2
Race disadvantages
Slow balance recovery: level 1
Magic weakness : level 2
Next up...Saurons (I think the name was already used somewhere but mehz)
Now...these Sauron thingies...are...erm...big globs of goo!!! Who...em...started life in the Glomdoring Swamp as oozes but some became to intelligent and left? And now...they...erm..seek to protect Glom or something?
STATS...I'm getting to tired for this, I'll leave that for Estarra to decide.

Horrible necro!
Also...
NECRONS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
First, they have no free will. Second, that's too fanboyish even for Lusternia. Third and subsequent points aren't needed. KTHX.

On the subject of cool, but completely unimplementable races:
This idea is based on a science-fiction story I read a long time ago.
Basically in that story, the aliens looked like dogs, and each dog is rather stupid, just like a normal dog. However the dogs have innate ability for telepathy on a short range. So while one dog is stupid, multiple dogs can combine their thoughts to become an actual thinking personality.
So the idea is to introduce the race of CombiDogs (Well, I guess a better name could be taken). A player consists of up to six dogs, and the stats depend on the amount of dogs. If reduced to one dog, the only thing you are able to do is bark and run away. With six dogs you are pretty powerful and do a physical attack by letting all six bodies attack and bite.
It will be possible to send one of your bodies away, and that will reduce your stats, but you can use it to scout ahead and such.
Specialization of the different bodies would be possible. So one body could get the task to defend the other bodies and so on...

If we want this forum to be treated seriously, please post ideas that have an actual chance to be implemented.
The dogs, while cool, do not fit into Lusternia. I believe Planescape had a similiar thing with rats too.
Whatever. Everyone's posting stuff, I will too.
New race!
OMGWTFBBQ Ninja Pirate with a WTF Soul Slayer!
17 Strength (lolx they so strong)
20 Dexterity (ninja, noob)
15 Constitution (pirates r tough)
14 Intelligence (ninjas r smart)
21 Charisma (dis s so kul!)
5 Size (they sneeky)
Advantages:
Deathgod Have a racial language.
level 3 Recover balance more quickly.
level 3 Regain equilibrium faster.
level 3 Resistance to fire. (cuz they r cool)
Can YARR upon reaching level 50 - this makes the enemy paralysed in fear (read: paralyze and fear afflictions, even if they're immune)
Can BANKAI upon reaching level 80 - wait ten second to activate your Soul Slayer's power. It kills all enemies in the room, and also during activation they just gape in astonishment and can't do anything, including stopping you. This is NOT only an RP skill and feel free to abuse it during raids.
Disadvantages:
level 1 Are susceptible to nerf damage.
So, what do you think?

Trill have no racial language because thier language is common. Since they naturally fly and other don't they probably spread across the basin faster and taught common to everybody. Common should probabbly be called Trill. (I mean we speak english, not common)

Share it, maybe someone will want to check it out - it's "A Fire Upon the Deep" by Vernor Vinge, I believe.
Pretty good book, but to answer your proposal...
No.

This thread confused me soooo much at first. I was like WTF? We just had two new races added!
Then I noticed the dates!
Thread necro ftw!

I'd love to see something like the Cheysuli from Jennifer Roberson's Cheysuli Chronicles
series.
Quick note on appearance in a manner other than what would be on the site: Cheysuli are taller than their human kin, taking on an appearance similar to that of the Native Americans - save for golden eyes (like those of animals in colour). So tanned, and with dark hair.
Size:
13 Strength
9 Dexterity
13 Constitution
10 Intelligence
13 Charisma
14 Size
Have racial language;
Level 1 resistance to poison damage
Level 1 faster herb balance
This would be the tricky aspect, but:
For Crow and Stag totems; Upon specializing in totems for Crow or Stag, a Cheysuli will be able to bond with a lir. Their Lir is much like a familiar - though what they can bond with is random (so you can not choose if it be hound, bird, cat, or whichever). The Lir offers a companion for hunting (agains players, not denizens) - Though the death of the lir will cause the Cheysuli to die as well, and when they are revived, maximum stats of health, willpower, and ego will be lessened until they have revived their lir (a process which I'm still trying to make feasible).
EDIT: If it could work out - the Cheysuli can take on the form of their Lir - appearing as a Lir themselves, then, for a period of time. Too long in Lir form (you'd have a timer or something to figure out) would make it so that you could not change back into their natural form, and eh, don't know, have to die to return as Cheysuli?
Level 1 susceptible to fire
Yes, this isn't thoroughly thought out, just seemed like it would be fun should the mechanics work out.

-Has no place in Lusternia.
-Too hard to code. I don't say it's impossible, but it won't be worth the effort.
-Weak stats.
-Has no place in Lusternia.
Please, just because you see a cool race somewhere, it doesn't mean you have to immediately try to copycat it into Lusternia. I will verbally flog the next person attempting that.

As I had said in my post, it was just an idea. Not a serious one at that.
I know it would be unreasonable to code - but still, the concept would be interesting.
Please; just because someone voices an idea that isn't what you view to be appropriate for Lusternia - don't assume that they're being unreasonable in the idea voicing (all narcissism aside).
It was just an idea - a concept I thought would be interesting in Lusternia (and not so much in the literal set I threw up there) not now, but at some point, a race with that 'style' of shifting with somewhat reasonable consequences and the like could prove for equally as interesting roleplay.

Haji-mon could regenerate power by drinking coffee.

I wanted to comment on Roark's splintering, but I didn't want to invoke Godwin's Law.

Krisnsur, they are a race of statuesque warriors that posses three-eyes and four arms.
Their stone bodies came to motion thanks to the grace of a splintered shard of a Divine God that having drifted away from the rest took pity of the graceful statues and decided to reside within each one bringing them to life.
Stats:
13 Strength
13 Dexterity
13 Constitution
15 Intelligence
14 Charisma
12 Size
Advantages:
Level 1 mana regeneration
Level 1 health regeneration
Level 2 resistance to cutting
Level 1 resistance to blunt
Level 1 resistance to psychic damage
Thirdeye
Mindsense
Dance of the Thousand Petal Lotus (BOND command)
Disadvantages:
Weakness to poison damage 2
Recover equilibrium slower 1
Slow wakers
Can only wear leather armor
Only females
Because they have four hands they can wield four weapons and specialize in two knight specs: (Blade master/Bone crusher: 4 weapons, Pureblade/Blade master: 3 weapons). Each arm has its own balance.
Using the BOND command, two Krisnurs can fuse into one, their health and regeneration stacks, strength increases one point, and they have a total of eight arms. Every now and then the BONDED Krisnurs will swoop knocking down her personal enemies or lash randomly at 8 times at different foes.
Because the Krisnurs are bonded into one, their susceptibility to “impurities†(poison) increases Level 3. Their mana drains progressively.
Krisnurs remain BONDED as long as they have mana, using the UNBOND command they can separate but because disrupting the harmony of the BONDING is taxing, they become stunned for 2 seconds and damage is divided equally among them when separated (4000 hp-2000 damage, they separate each Krisnaur with 1000 health). They can BOND at anytime.
