Er.. you pay 1k per powerstone? Dude, you're getting ripped off.
And only lasting a real day? Didn't you say just above they lasted 25 months?

Sorry, sleepy. Mixing days with months..
Edit: And the jewelers then.
Verithrax2005-12-26 08:39:24
When I was an enchanter I paid 250-500 for Powerstones. Until I started getting them for free since I was married to a jeweller
I think that the bookie licence from Achaea would be fun here. We could bet on village revolts, for example.

Maybe, i'd actually prefer have an addition to the gabling areas within the cities/communes, like having a city owned betting parlor, complete with it's own ring, which allowed you to bet on the ring, and FFA's in any arena.
Unknown2005-12-26 09:21:13
Hm.. I wonder if the jewelers realize they're going to screw lots of people, including themselves, out of enchantments and alchemy if they're determined to charge 1-2k for Powerstones now.
Gregori2005-12-26 10:06:58
Personally I hope they DO increase the prices of goods. I would like to see inflation for many things across the board. Trade skills aside from cooking (everyone needs to eat), tailoring (everyone wants clothes), herbs( 100% profit), and jewelry(everyone wants enchantments) are the worst way in Lusternia to make gold.
Unknown2005-12-26 10:12:27
Ahh, well even though Artisan is a good skills, it's only when the new stuff comes out, like Bookshelves and Fightingrings, but in a month or two, they'll die down, and it'll go back to being a pretty worthless tradeskill.
Hajamin2005-12-26 10:16:42
There are actually a lot of things I want to do with them, which will give almost every tradeskill a way to effect figurines... it's all based on one thing, you. If players like them enough to warrent the extra time to add in the other effects, you could see weapons and armour... and a few other neat things I have in my head.
Gregori2005-12-26 10:19:09
I think they are a great thing. I haven't actually played, but I have a figurine. I will probably put a fighting ring in my manse at some point. More entertaining than Chess in my books.
Unknown2005-12-26 10:19:45
Well armor i suppose would in effect add more months, or make it more resistant to losing parts, even if it loses, while weapons would make the enemy ones lose more months as it's easier to break parts, then i suppose there can always be parrying for weapons, and if you add shields, shieldparrying.
There's also a possibility for adding a potion to re-animate the figures, bringing back some of the months that they've lost during the fights, as well as a poison that is required to make this said potion?

Except that when Powerstone prices rise, Enchantments and Alchemy (Which everyone is buying anyway) are the only thing that rise. If the other tradeskills raise their prices, people just stop buying because they're selling non-essential items.
Gregori2005-12-26 10:24:34
The cost of inflated powerstones will have little effect on the cost of alchemy and echantment. I for one don't even include the cost of powerstones in my prices for alchemy, and I don't know anyone who does.
Unknown2005-12-26 10:28:38
I'm not sure if this would be possible, but would there be a way to create traps for the fighting rings, which would be a mixture of artisan, actually creating the ring, enchantment, and poisons for the actual trap, which randomly affects one of the figures, by stopping their attack, or hurting them or such.
Can always add in a bit of book keeping for Bookbinders, so they can double as our bookies, which would add a interesting turn to them, and also give them something to do with the Fighting Rings.

Verithrax2005-12-26 10:31:35
Yeah, true. When I was an Enchanter I had a profit rate of around 500%, IIRC. Doubling Powerstone prices doesn't affect alchemy and Enchantment costs at all.
EDIT:
But if everyone starts charging prices THAT high, we might start to see an increase in Enchantment prices:
wares powerstone
Proprietor: Lunar Blade, Rizzen T. Regamos, Sword of Selene.

Hrm, i just had an idea, giving each city a Fighting arena and a bookie, in the area where they have their roulette/blackjack/lotteries and usually chess. Though these would be different, the cities/communes bookbinders would be able to sell tickets to these arena's though they would have to be bougth at the bookie to actually enter the arena, which the competitors could enter their figurines in, for a certain amount of gold, like a FFA but you dont actually have to fight, which can be set by a cultural aide or minister. I'm actually not sure if there can be more then two figures fighting in the ring, so if they cant, it could just be duels, which can be bet on and such.
At the bookie before entering, you can place bets on which competitor will win, based on what level they are, compared to the others, what equiptment? they have and so forth if such like that is ever placed, but each will have different odds, and people bet on them, only at that bookie though, so only can bet in Mag for a fight in Mag.
Though an alternate would instead of having a bookie, having bookbinders be able to set the odds and such, and sell betting tabs, and tickets to the fights. Which would add an involvement for Bookbinders, and increase them from not being as useless as people make them out to be.

What about:
AB COOKING CHOCOLATECAST
MAKE MOLD FROM
1 wood
Using a figurine from someone and one wood commodity, you can make a wooden mold for chocolate figurines.
MAKE FIGURINE FROM
1 fruit, 2 sugar
Using the mold, you can make a delicious chocolate version of a person or creature.
EDIT: Chocolate figurines wouldn't be very filling, but they would allow you to BITE HEAD OFF
Sylphas2005-12-26 16:40:54
Hell, I haven't even bothered to use a powerstone for Alchemy in forever, let alone actually consider the price of them.
Diamondais2005-12-26 17:29:25
Cutting Powerstones is pretty rare, I remember when I was cutting for Arix to get some Powerstones for my family we brought out over 60 uncut gems and only got two. Gems, in Serenwilde at least, cost 110g per. You are then sitting with tons of gems, metals are pathetic to buy now, and few powerstones. Not to mention its above master to get when most people just want to go into their Guild skills.
Now that is why some jewelers overcharge.
And Verithrax that powerstone is insanely priced, they shouldnt go over 1500g per and even then thats an extreme.

Doesn't seem like he has much choice. Not many people sell powerstones for less. You're lucky if you're friends with a jeweler. Since cubes came out, the price has been just nasty.
Diamondais2005-12-26 17:59:25
Bastienne sells for 750g! Buy Goldleaf! They have a store in the Serenwilde Proper! Come on, you know you want to.. (shameless begging for you to go buy there) (prays she restocked)
