I still say we should sacrifice the Last Chance Trading Post to bring back one of the cities
Richter2005-12-27 20:20:32
I tried to do a hostile takeover of that place years ago, kept killing Bob, made a public post, etc.
They buffed Bob up.
They buffed Bob up.

So THAT's the foil for Ackleberry! Deepnight! We always knew there had to be an org to directly oppose those poor little furrikin. I guess Deepnight is it
Richter2005-12-28 00:21:47
You weren't supposed to reveal my secret! But I guess now I have to share with you this poem I wrote. It outlines my world domination scheme:
Three rings for the elven-GM's in Serenwilde,
Seven for the dwarf-lords in their mining villages,
Nine for mortal humans doomed to die,
One for Richter on his dark throne
In the land of Deepnight where the Shadows lie
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Deepnight where the Shadows lie.

Seven for the dwarf-lords in their mining villages,
Nine for mortal humans doomed to die,
One for Richter on his dark throne

In the Land of Deepnight where the Shadows lie.

I chose to ignore Glomdoring because it was the one created a year ago based on player action. Note I said "original three".
Just so you know, the plan would be for it to be destoryed but ressurectable--maybe a small tent in rubble with Meleris or Adrak or Miakoda. Sort of like how Glom was in the beginning.

That sort of reminds me of the dream in Lusternia where the Tae'dae and Furrikin are crying around a huge torn up pit -- I always thought that was the Moonhart Mother tree that got torn out of the ground.

Is that in Ackleberry's history? If it is, can you post the link to that particular page on here? Assuming that it's in the History webpages on the main Lusternia website...
Unknown2005-12-28 01:18:34
It would be the part where the whole forest up and left, leaving all those Tae'dae and Furrikins behind?
Shiri2005-12-28 01:24:32
This is the page in question, but it's quite long, so I'll take a quote for you.
Of course, it's not explicitly stated anywhere that the tree in the dream is Ackleberry, but seeing as it's a furrikin/tae'dae forest it does make sense.
QUOTE(Histories)
“But we have time now! A window of opportunity! If you will not help, let us tell the High Priestess of the Lake! Surely her and the rest of the wiccan coven in Ackleberry will act. And the druid circle of Ackleberry! Will they not want to try to save their High Druid?â€
“Poor Lolly,†the High Priestess of the Moon murmured. “Has no one told you? Ackleberry Forest is no more.â€
“What?†I screamed. “The Taint has not spread that far! How can Ackleberry be no more?â€
“You tell me the Grey Moors raised a defense against the Taint?†the High Priestess of the Moon asked me. I nodded and she continued, “Well, good for them. But that also explains why the Taint suddenly surged north. Shallach fell quickly. The orclach there . . . the orclach do not respond to the Taint like the other races. Those that do not turn into the undead become diminished--hateful and foul like others mutated by the Taint--but also smaller and weaker. Thankfully so, I guess. But there were many of them and they poured northwards and invaded the Ackleberry. This army you see now chased them south but not before they kidnapped High Druid Gib Gladheart and many others. We could not follow them into the Taint, of course. Not then. And the Taint continued to press on.â€
Tears welled up in her eyes, as she paused and stared off to the north in the direction of where Ackleberry Forest once stood. A lump was lodged in my throat and I could not speak, so I had to pull on her robe to get her to continue.
“What could Ackleberry’s coven and circle do?†she asked to no one. “They had to protect the Great Spirits of Nature that were tied to their forest. Having more Great Spirits become corrupted like Night and Raven--that could not be allowed to happen. The Gloriana Forest of the ethereal realm was Tainted along with the Gloriana here, and even now threatens Faethorn Court. Many fae have already lost their lives in the most terrible manners. The Great Spirits told us of a way to hide our forests deep into the fabric of creation, to cast a veil between what is and what is not. It is a dangerous thing to do, to risk non-existence itself. But there was no choice, not with the Taint moving forward. So Ackleberry Forest sundered itself from reality. We cannot know if they survived or not, but the forest, both here and in the ethereal realm, is no more.â€
“There’s no one left?†I whispered, slumping to the ground.
“Just what you see here,†she said, gesturing around us. “Not all went with Ackleberry to . . . wherever they went. The furrikin village of Estelbar remained behind, perhaps you may wish to make your way there. Or you can come with me to Serenwilde where we shall wait.â€
“Wait for what?â€
“Wait to see whether we should follow Ackleberry. The Nine Seals may break at any time and release Kethuru. Or perhaps he may take control of the Taint again. We must prepare ourselves to leave as Ackleberry has.â€

Taking into account that Shikari and Viravain said "no", i will still analyze this idea anyhow. The only viable option would be Celest, only because it would not throw off the balance a horrible amount. Serenwilde is extremely strong at this point, as is Magnagora, and tossing one of those would only unleash a world of hurt from the other. As of now, they balance each other nicely, with Celest and Glomdoring playing the little orphan asking for more food.
Shryke2005-12-29 17:07:46
Ahem, I beg to differ, all the orgs acted individually in the last village, and Glomdoring was neck and neck with all the other orgs, at least until the end!
Vauraugli2005-12-29 17:10:02
I'm also going to have to say no on that one.. Something tells me that people in Celest wouldn't be too happy about working their arses off for a New New Celest.

We're planning on bulldozing Estelbar's trees and building some high rise office space, maybe some classy apartments there as well like in Trump Tower. It will be called Roarkopolis, Lusternia's first industrialized org. Skillsets of the guilds will be specializations of the new base skillsets: management, real estate, and paper pushing.

AB PAPERPUSHING OBFUSCATE
Through the power of incoherent speech and verbal circumlocution, you will drain your foe of up to 2000 points of willpower.
AB PAPERPUSHING STALL
By putting your foe on hold at carefully chosen times, you can cause all his commands to take longer to execute (equivalent effect to Aeon).
AB PAPERPUSHING INSINCERITY
You must direct your target to have a nice day. Causes a loss of 500 points of willpower, but masks this effect temporarily, causing the foe to think his willpower is actually 1500 points higher than it is.
AB PAPERPUSHING TRIPLICATE
While your foe is affected by this dread curse, all commands executed by that foe will not have any effect unless repeated three times in sequence. Stacks with Aeon.
AB PAPERPUSHING CLERICALERROR
By losing your foe's forms at a key moment, you can do a devestating blow of over 5000 points of willpower at once.
AB PAPERPUSHING COUP
Through falsification of documents, you can appoint yourself to any guild, city, commune, or order rank, or any position within your government. This takes approximately two months to go through, and costs a variable amount of gold, similar to parleying.
AB PAPERPUSHING SOULCRUSH
Willpower-based instakill. By choosing the precise moment to build up your foe's hopes and then break off communications without explanation, forcing them to start over, you will cause your foe's death by despair if his willpower is below 50%.

For those confused by my outright 'no' earlier.
Lets say, for arguements sake, that each org has been around for about a year. There are three guilds per org, with three major leaders in each. We'll also say, as a estimate (biased hugely on the side of caution) that each guild has only three undersecretaries and three protectors.
Let's also make a conservative estimate and say that each guild official does two hours work per day.
So, on a daily basis, there are 18 hours of work put into administration per day by each guild, which means 54 hours total for the three guilds. Likewise, we'll say that each Minister puts in an hour's work per day. That's another 8 hours, and we'll say the org leader puts in three hours per day. All up, we'll go for a very rough figure of 65 manhours per day.
Multiplied by 365, that comes to 23,725 manhours of work by players. It doesn't count the exponentially higher amount of time it takes the builders and coders to build, balance, and tune organisations.
Hmm. Let's see. Wipe out all that work and effort, thus creating a whole bunch more work for us, and alienating (for arguements sake, again) a quarter of our loyal players?
The idea, I'm afraid, seems a little silly when you look at it that way, in my opinion.
