Actually, there is more of a focus on musical power in the communes than the cities from what I've seen.

We have Moondancers/Shadowdancers, which sing to call fae, and dance to rhythms and music to create their spells. I think that link is fairly obvious.

Hartstone/Blacktalon also demonstrate the representation of natural power as music... they sing to summon trees, and hum notes to call ethereal forest. Dain himself talks about the 'Music of the Wilds'.

If anything, a class that uses music to call power would have to be in the communes. Muahaha wink.gif

Maybe the same class could be in the cities, but with an emphasis on performance and ritual rather than music and song.

Which is why bards should be a city archetype. With all the singing and dancing going on, the Communes hardly need them. biggrin.gif

Booo! Cities can't understand music with their.. um.. damn cities.

I do like the Bard thing though, especially with the different instruments. It'll be interesting to see how specializations work, if we ever do get to see something like that.

Strings would probably be focused on healing and afflictions like sleep and lust; Drums would cause sonic damage and physical afflictions. Brass would be focused on buffing up your allies and causing mental afflictions. Winds would be based on coercing people into causing damage to themselves, and forcing them to do things. (Pipes are usually associated with hypnotism and the such.) And it would be interesting to see the division between roguish, Stalking bards and Ritualist bards that would be a lot like choir singers.

If you are going to set up another archetype (bards), then i would prefer something unique like the Shadow/Moon/Celestine/Nihilist deal. Focus each of the musical classes on their chosen residence.

Magnagora - a focus more on death and decay (funeral marches, deep bass woodwind type instruments)
Celest - a focus more on pageantry and pure sound (regal marches, more of the big brassy type instruments)
Serenwilde - focus on more rustic style (flighty runs, quick ballads, strings and high woodwinds)
Glomdoring - wild almost ritualistic style (drums, frenzy pace, make it so they whip each other into battle rages or something)

That being said, I don't think this would be a popular archetype to create much the same as bards that died in other IRE realms. I don't see them being very effective in combat unless given some very good skills, and other than RP they won't have many followers. I was thinking something along the lines of stealth due to the amount conflict that a stealth class could finally be used. If you wanted a bard type guild, make it non-city affiliated, some conservatory built somewhere and base it from there. The members can then choose to go where they wish.

I would love to see a direct assassin guild.
I mean, i you think about it-
Specializations could be such things as dirks, daggers, knives, sitaras, needles, or possibly something of the sort.
Using Imperian as an example, How about doubletab? But as for Lusternia, small weapons like daggers can be dual-wielded...

So like doublstabbing with two dirks, daggers, whatever. That would be sort of sick, but again- People who know their cures might survive.
Perhaps they also could have an ability or two to assisst in the persuasion of village people, or something to that effect.

And each city would have its own specialization in their guild, such asMagnagorans when they Trans the main skill, might get a friggin' bloody instakill, and Celest a relatively clean on, Seren might look something...bewildering...Maybe a snapped neck, to suggest the Wild. AndGlom...well...Wow...thats just Glom....go figure. Maybe they can feed the corpse to Crows.

I mean, with proper work, I think it would make a challenging addition to the Lusternian world.
