I think the article speaks for itself.
QUOTE
JERUSALEM -- Sharon Tendler met Cindy 15 years ago. She said it was love at first sight. This week she finally took the plunge and proposed. The lucky "guy" plunged right back.

In a modest ceremony at Dolphin Reef in the southern Israeli port of Eilat, Tendler, a 41-year-old British citizen, apparently became the world's first person to "marry" a dolphin.

Dressed in a white dress, a veil and pink flowers in her hair, Tendler got down on one knee on the dock and gave Cindy a kiss. And a piece of herring.

"He's the love of my life," she said yesterday.

Tendler, who said she imports clothes and promotes rock bands in England, has visited Israel several times a year since first meeting the dolphin.

While she acknowledged the "wedding" had no legal bearing, she said it reflected her feelings for the bottlenosed, 35-year-old object of her affection.

I wanna marry a dolphin..

Why does that instantly make me think of that dolphin sex website that was the rage years ago? I think someone liked it a bit too much.
Murphy2006-01-04 22:10:06
dolphins and humans are the only creatures that have sex for pleasure, so i guess it makes sense, in a sick way.

While she keeps open the option of "marrying human," she said she is a "one-dolphin woman."

I can't imagine how jealous the dolphin must get when she starts eyeing seals.

Human marrying a dolphin.
That's retarded.

Children? Psh, this is obviously a ploy to save money on birth control.

I wanna see the dolphin point of view on an exclusive interview.
Did somebody ask his opinion?
Kiarlea2006-01-05 15:02:44
People scare me. :/

This woman should be beaten with a fish and thrown into the ocean where the real dolphins live, then we'll see how much she loves them after the try to eat her for smelling like a fish.
Leonias2006-01-05 16:09:49
That dolphin is a badass
Marcalo2006-01-05 16:13:46
no he's going to get some bad ass.....
Daganev2006-01-05 19:16:44
Actually, all the dolphins in dolphin cove are wild dolphins, they can come and go as they please. I'm actually curious how she knows that she is with "Cindy"(a male dolphin apparently? Whats up with the name?) as apposed to the other dolphins there.

laugh.gif I wondered that too.

But I suppose it's not hard to tell one dolphin from another if it has any specific markings and you've been seeing it for x months/years. And if it's familiar with her it might act differently to her, I suppose.

That said, pegging this as a wedding is a bit silly, as not only is it not (as far as I'm aware) legal ANYWHERE, but the dolphin didn't actually say yes. I wonder what the laws on that are. Maybe it was taught to nod, and that counts. (Otherwise mute people would have issues.) If I wanted to be accurate I'd have said "woman wants to marry dolphin" and it wouldn't have gotten nearly as much attention. What will be weirder is if it's actually legally accepted somewhere.

in taxonomy a genus is the limit of natural reproduction due to chemical changes that make further unrelated species unable to crossbreed. being that the dolphin is not with even the same family as a human, it cannot breed. therefore, no children of them.
Shryke2006-01-10 05:50:22
Tsaephai- I think we all know that a dolphin couldn't in fact have children with a human... I think they were being sarcastic.
