I've been curious for quite some time now.
The Cutting/blunt on Shields, Robes, Leather, Fieldplate, etc.
What are the percentages each number takes off? I'm dieing to know

Someone who seemed to know what he was talking about once told me that 100 on an armour stat takes off 50% of the respective damage type. I've never really tested it however, but by rough estimation it might be correct.

I've always been told half the figure on the armour is the % dropped.

So someone with around 100/100 fullplate would be like being under constant numen against physical damage?

Well...yeah, but numen with no armour on isn't exactly special, I suspect. :/

are shields put into this fraction? and if yer wearing stuff like leather do you take all the numbers and get the average of cutting/blunt?
Morik2006-01-09 02:22:44
Just random datapoint:
Bashing armour resistance, according to hajamin, is an average of all the stats on all parts of your body. I don't remember how shields stack.

it is? o_O Interesting... maybe I should stop telling our recruits that they only need a cuirass for hunting purposes then. Hrm.
Shiri: I think so too.
Munsia: It'd make sense for both to matter. Armour worn on your body should always make a difference, whether it's Murphy's hammer that slams into you or your shield driven by Murphy's hammer... But then again, armour in computer games never functions like it would IRL (monks ) So I really am not sure. I tested it years ago and then it seemed like body armour and shields stack, but that was on Achaea and I've never been great with numbers.

While any dunce can hold a shield and protect an arm, by practice and training you are able to position your shield by second nature, allowing further protection to your arm wielding the shield as well as your head, chest and gut

Would it just stack straight with the arm/torso armour on that body part then?
Munsia2006-01-10 05:46:31
That only striked me as reducing wounds
ferlas2006-01-11 23:20:40
I figured itd reduce damage if you were hit in one of the listed places as well, Its worth testing though ill grab someone to stab me a few times to see if theres any difference between the arms.
Leonias2006-01-12 00:22:57
Sure didn't work for your gut.
