And all novices that you mentor are the ones that mudsex and not the ones that graduate and trans everything.  Somehow I managed to get very unlucky and mentored the guy that likes to sit at the portals just to pick up chicks to mess with.

That's why I decided to stop just mentoring every novice I do an intro for and letting them seek me out if they want me as a mentor.

Village Deja Vu: Somehow, the Countess constantly gets assassination attempts every few days, the tae'dae cubs keep getting sick and losing their toys at the same time, the rockeater training tunnels magically shift into new positions, and the people in Delport keep switching partners.

I keep trying to turn myself in when I kill the Countess, but I never get the honours line for it. It's getting frustrating.

EDIT: And Magnagorans and Serens are about as fickle relationship-wise as people in Delport.

Celestian version of false memory: If you manage to get the last hit in a group effort against one or more opponent, that means -you- beat that person and are free to show how immature you are by shouting out your victory.

hahaha! this is very funny! very good job, verithrax!

*bump*

Three new rules, courtesy of Sipelus.

EDIT: And our very first rules about Aetherships!
Rhysus2006-02-17 19:15:53
You're missing two of the most important ones here.

The Golden Age Syndrome (The GAS Law): Invariably, any former leader will believe that things were better when they were in power, and will never fail in blaming the current leaders for their own personal misfortunes.

The Rusted Age Parallel (The RAP Law): Invariably, any current leader will believe that all problems within their organization were, at their root, caused by some former leader they didn't vote for, and that all hope for the future lies in their own unique abilities.

Note that these laws apply cyclically.
Verithrax2006-02-17 20:42:17
For those of you who haven't realized yet, the naming format is:

's Rule of Whatever ( Rule)

Authough I don't always give credit. And it kind of bugs me there isn't a Verithrax Rule yet.
Verithrax2006-04-08 01:12:18
The List is still going strong!

Alright, not, but I like adding a new rule and bumping it up every so often so that newer players can read it, laugh, and sometimes wonder why something is so funny (Because it was. Twenty game years ago.)
Forren2006-04-08 01:33:06
Forren's Rule of Hunting: If you think someone will come attack you, they will.
Arix2006-04-08 01:48:46
Arix's rule of recipe titleing: The more dangerous it sounds, the more people will buy.
Hazar2006-04-08 02:44:01
The Inverse Conundrum of Verithrax: If someone comes up with even a somewhat creative advertisement, every blockhead in the Basin will feel a need to comment on it, and, likely, mock it.
Unknown2006-04-08 18:27:00
Serenwilde's Lament: Newly weds or nearly wedded couples' RP often involves countless snuggling, purring and rubbing at an Organisation's nexus.
Gaetele2006-04-08 20:17:29
Gaetele's Law of Aging: No matter how old your character is, their outer appearance will never change to anything beyond 40 years old.

Gaetele's Law of Elder Respect: Novices will always brag about their extreme power, until you graciously point out that you're three-to-four times their age, when they'll hastily apologise and worship you. This rule has no basis as to how strong you actually are.

Gaetele's Law of Shamelessness: The chance of you receiving a gift is directly proportional to how much you beg for it OOC.

Gaetele's Law of Blissful Ignorance: If you're a Rogue, no matter what grievous crimes you have done to an organisation in the past, once you're unenemied, said organisation will treat you like they would treat any other person.
Tzekelkan2006-04-10 11:55:25
How about:

The Undersecretary Conudrum: Whenever a novice harasses another novice from a different city/commune, the Undersecretary will always get the blame.

Aaaaand:

Verithrax' rule on rule-breaking: If you are a leader of an organization and don't follow your own rules, you were just testing the other members' awareness and knowledge of those rules.

ferlas2006-04-10 12:35:34
The faethorn song rule: In the case of an event altering opportunitys or lessening restrictions on roleplay, people will do nothing but bitch about it ooc before an hour of ic actions has even passed.

Unknown2006-04-10 12:38:30
Sad, but true.
Verithrax2006-04-10 19:38:57
Woot, finally a Verithrax Rule. Of course, most people don't know why it's named after me. tongue.gif
Hazar2006-04-10 22:11:39
The Curious Law of Gifts: The likeliness of your recieving gifts from senior guild members as a novice increases exponentially if you are female and have a cute description.
Tzekelkan2006-04-11 00:02:43
Not many on Aetherships:

Law of aethercrews: The number and ferocity of aether creatures are directly proportional to the number of crewmembers lacking vitae elixirs and inversely proportional to their experience in aetherflying.
