Goodbye for a While

Back to The Real World.

Some of you know me, some of you don't. But I just thought I'd let you all know that I won't be around much for the next few months or so. Four MAX, hopefully. I'm leaving tomorrow (Tuesday) for USAF Boot Camp. I'll be in Texas for 6.5 weeks, and then I'll be in California for nearly 2 years. I'll be buying a computer as soon as I get there, so it won't be too long after I get to California that I'll be back online.

So I'll see all you crazy cats later!!

I hear it's actually fun (Aside from the room where you have to take off your mask and inhale that pepper gas.. or whatever it is, and your sinuses just release everything! ninja.gif ), and then tech school is always a naughty place. What field did you decide to go in? I'm an Air Force brat so it's crossed my mind a few times to join, but.. I don't know. I'm too much of an ass.

You'll have tons of fun though between basic and tech school though! You'll have to share your experiences with us.

Good luck!

I'm in the USAF
Boot camp sucks when your there, but later you realize how easy it was.

And California, eh? We don't have the same job, but we're in the same field. Woot.

Have fun

I'll be an Airbourne Cryptologic Apprentice. So I'll be a translator basically.

Eep. Boot camp doesn't sound that fun - especially if it was anything like that reality TV show that aired a few years back. tongue.gif

Heh. I got kicked out of BMT, apparently the AF doesn't want you if you have exercise induced asthma. So I'm home now.
Unknown2006-05-19 18:54:41
That's stupid. Aren't they supposed to find all of that out at MEPS?

The way I see it you won't be doing much of that physical training after BMT anyway, but meh.. maybe they know best. /sarcasm

CS gas is not any kind of fun, sure cleans up the sinuses though. Also, if you really want to try the service ask the Army. They're hurting for recruits, but their BCT is alot more painful than Air Force. You run on a treadmill for Air Force 2mile I heard, heh! A treadmill! Wtf!

Anyways, I was there when I took my first inactive leave soooo long ago. Fort Knox.
Bastion2006-05-20 06:12:26
Unless they changed it, I'm pretty sure the AF pt test is only 1.5 miles. biggrin.gif

And yes, right now, the Army will take anyone, me being a prime example. Heh.

I think I'm going to enlist soon, actually (Air Force). A lot of censor.gif at home (Which is probably why most people sign).
Geb2006-05-20 19:12:25
If any of you do enlist, try to set yourself up to gain money for college. I went into the Navy in 1988 as an enlisted man, but a year later earned a scholarship to an NROTC program in Atlanta, GA. It is possible to do what I have done within 1 to 4 years, but you have to make sure you keep your eyes open to see the opportunities when they arise. Make your time in truly work towards preparing you for the future.
