Question: Praying?

I was under the impression that the syntax:

PRAY (Name of God) YOURMESSAGE sends a prayer straight to the given Divine's name you were praying to. This happened in both Lusternia and Achaean, so I assumed that it worked here. Recently, Elcyrion refuted that by saying we couldn't use this syntax that is used in the Sister games of the IRE.

So does it work? And if not, wouldn't it be a good idea to implement this into the Lusternia syntax? People pray. It is a given, especially with the active Divine we have now.

Wouldn't that essentially be... a message?
Unknown2006-01-10 03:49:11
But it would be strictly IC.
Unknown2006-01-10 04:06:36
Doesn't work - I just tried. ohmy.gif It should!

Yes, but like Dyr said, it would act as an IC way to contact the divine.

I have no idea what I'd pray for..

but that would be neat. Kind of like the Divine that added the ability to sense whenever their followerer touched their order ring/bracelet/thingy.

Gods can hear you in their fulcruxes if they are present. Otherwise, message them.

I can just touch my armlet and my god knows I need him.

The PRAY command is no longer an emote, but actual prayer to the God of
your choice. To pray to a God, you must go to a shrine of that God, and
PRAY TO . You will then fall to your knees in supplication before
the Divine and send your prayer out to the immortal, who, if they have
chosen to listen to the unworthy pleas of mortalkind, may or may not
visit their greatness upon you and fulfill all your mortal desires.

In related news, you are now able to DRAW SALUTE
, so you are able to militarily salute any God merciful enough
to wish to answer your mewling. You may choose to target the salute to a
person, or not.

Oh god.. there'll be no living with Malicia now.
Verithrax2006-01-10 22:24:57
Totally useless if the gods keep ignoring us, but I love it. Thanks Lisaera! Oh, and what's with the new title?
Nyla2006-01-10 22:25:54
*mumble* Now I have to walk all the way to the fulcrux to talk to my most favoritest Viravain...

By the way, you can't send specific text at the moment, as I decided it would probably annoy the Gods as some people would send essays since you can only pray once every five minutes. This -may- change, but if you want it your best bet is to convince your patron as they're the ones I'll be listening to on it.
Unknown2006-01-10 23:33:55
I always used to talk to the shrines, assuming gods could hear me if I talked to the shrine. I don't know if that worked or not.
Vix2006-01-10 23:43:22
They can only hear your speech at their fulcrux not any ordinary shrine. At least, that was before.
Joli2006-01-11 00:03:14
I think in Achaea they could hear and see what happened to their shrines. Either that or I was being stalked. dry.gif

If I understand correctly, they know what happens to anything inanimate (aside from attacks) if they care enough to listen to that channel.

He must have been really bored to watch me mess with his shrines then. tongue.gif I still remember the heart attack I got when he asked me what I thought I was doing to his statue. biggrin.gif Ahh, the good old days.

Nice sig there, Nyla, and the natural question in response to that is...

If you want to know about Shikari, why don't you ask him?
