Barrier is lame if there is no way to escape it if they are deaf other then flying, climbing, and burrowing. Most the time those arent even an option.

Just to clarify to anyone who didn't pick up on what Malicia posted:

- Barrier is a 10p skill in Telekinetics that prevents any form of exit from a room (including tumble, leap, roll) at the elevation cast. It locks a psi channel.

- Disruption scrolls remove a random locked channel. If the target is deaf, but lacks sixth sense (just eat faeleaf, apply health to head once), the target cannot hear the scroll being read and thus it fails.

- Chasm is a delayed instant kill that requires the target to either leave the room or hit with peace/lovers/pacifism to stop it.

Putting these three together, you basically have another absurd barrier combination. I think/hope this is likely to change. This is no more feasible (note the word "feasible" not "possible") for most people to escape than was barrier/chasm/divinefire, which was in the works to be restricted.

To get past barrier you can fly or burrow. Flying is easy to stop, but most people don't expect you to burrow.

Oh yeah, Malicia is a Paladin now. Too bad.

Guido, try to think about this with a little bit of foresight.

While yes, you can fly in a room with barrier, the context is against Geomancers who have passive and active means to disable flyers. You can also burrow - except tainted wyrms dig up anyone burrowed about every 3 seconds (so fast, I've never been able to dig and get out of the room before it uproots me).

I see nothing wrong with people using tactics such as barrier/forest or statue.. or whatever since that CAN be stopped with critique but this kind of stuff is not stoppable.. But then again Ethelon is known to find the cheap tactics in stuff and use them

Also to consider:

Disruption removes a randomly locked channel. If the telekinetic user has all three channels locked, there is always the chance that disruption won't even take down barrier initially anyways.

In hindsight, there are things I could have done better, like..switching to bigger swords and knocking Athana's head off, but I wasn't prepared. Getting jumped and what not. I hate going back and thinking about what I could have done differently, but I didn't have too many options there.

What's the balance on the scrolls? If you had to read it three times to gt the right channel you could still escape chasm, right? (assuming the person was not deaf of course).

It is possible, yes.

Probably and probably not. They are sorta slow but not too slow. I was able to escape ethelons barrier twice yesterday even when he had a group of 3 others backing him with disruption.
This just brings us back to geomancers being terribly overpowered.
They get stun through protection which allows them to catch up to thier targets without ever having to dissolve
There is no way to stop desertstorm
This barrier/chasm/sixthsense thing when you have geyser and taint wyrm to pull up.
Note that aquas also can sixthsense/barrier and noones saying thats right but aquas DONT have an instakill that only makes you wait.

There are many things Malicia coulda done. Malicia, it really seems like all you care about anymore is how much drama you can cause on the forums by doing nothing other than whine, whine, whine. Give it up, it's stupid. You could have escaped, you didn't, to bad. I'm sure Narsrim or Amaru will blame their next jumping on me and Athana, so all will be fine.

C'mon let's not turn this into bickering everyone. Let's discuss what Malicia could have done to escape in this situation and then maybe something useful can come of it.
