Here's one for you:
Eat bog, sip tetrodin. Bam, you are instantly deaf again. It is not possible to strip deafness on anyone with common sense. No matter what you do, the target can put it back up before you regain balance or equilibrium.

Firstly if he's chasming, he can't do any of those things.
And munsia, sensitivity strips -deafness- not sixth sense, i wont jump down your throat on this one though. But you can definitley strip deafness.
So, sensitivity and read disruption will work. Why not lunge their head while having sensitivity on there? when they apply health to head it will cure wounds first (i think, i'm not sure about that one) stoping them from getting narsrim's combo off.
And yeh malicia, there are heaps of things you forget when you get jumped, and sometimes you just can't do anything except for heartstop, or try to take one of them out.

I can't barge someone out of a room. I can go for tackle or gust, sure.

You are all funny...trying to make it seem like it was impossible. First, she oculd have run right away, we were i na forest and for about the first ten seconds, I was putting up barrier and setting up attacks. Then I recalled, she could climb and leave, so then I tainted. So, she could have gone that way... I didn't know she didn't have trueheal, yes she could have barged (from what I'm told) Yes, she could have flyed if she was prepared. She could have snorted spores, since most people are prepared with them up there (though obviously she didn't have them?) I was not in a demesne...setting up stonewalls would give her just more time to be smart and walk out. So...it's apparent to me..she could have stopped from dieing just fine.

actually to be specific, you have 6thsense and blind+deaf up, sensitivity will strip deafness AND remove 6thsense.
The message is something like, your hearing returns, but you no longer see through the 6th sense or something.
try it.

And this is why we must *think* about the scenarios and ask ourselves if the suggestions are reasonable:
=====================================================
Once chasm stats, I believe it is 9-12 seconds before it ends. In this time frame you would have to do the following:
- attack target, recover balance, read disruption, recover equilibrium, get out of the room
=====================================================
Now that we've established what must be done, let's establish what's going on passively too:
- demesne (stun, prone, etc), possible 1 telekinetic dagger (using paralyse), another locked channel (not sure what can be used on id), stonewalls
=====================================================
So in sum:
- it could take up to three readings of disruption to knock out barrier (by which time you'd be dead)
- senstivity doesn't always hit off weapons, you only have time for 1 combo
- stonewalls will force you to have to tumble out of the room, there is no way you can do all that crap + tumble in time
Malicia2006-01-12 01:33:46
See, you assume too much, Ethelon.
I..
can't fly
can't climb
can't burrow
Okay? Look, I didn't say the situation was impossible. I think barrier is quite powerful and to top it off, it wasn't exactly an even one on one situation, where I could have focused. I was being hit by lobs, staffed by you, webbed by Athana repeatedly in between your transfixing. It was rather disorienting. I could have tried stripping your deaf defense, but that's not 100%. Poisons are 50% reliable and you have trans resilience, so don't act as if it's foolproof. The main thing I wish I had of tried was tackling you out of the room.
Also, I didn't see you enter the forest. I didn't see you until you were in my room. Tried to leave and barrier was up. Mmkay?

So what? In taint with barrier geomancers should be invincible? While yes, it isn't impossible to get out - it is just pretty unlikely. I think that's been argued quite clearly and you are dodging truth to the argument.
You are trying to argue that this tactic is fair - as long as geomancers fight in forests, don't have access to flamed monolith sigils, etc. Everything you list as a "possible" way to escape can be EASILY removed.
Unknown2006-01-12 01:40:17
Before we get a little too out of hand, two things to keep in mind.
1. Malicia was teamed. Teamed combat is never fair. It's no surprise she lost.
2. Chasm is fine. It's also 12 seconds to clarify.
And as Torak has mentioned, the problem, lies in barrier. Theoretically a Geomancer can barrier, get power back, and chasm. Although in practice this is not easy to pull off, it's still possible.
That's all. Let the discussion continue.

Why is it so difficult? Explain to me why it isn't easy to cast barrier, web whore till you regain 3p, and go from there. As I have already stated, it is not feasible to strips deafness. The only time it would be possible/effective against anyone who is competent would during mid-chasm.

yeh, but if they have 6thsense up, you can still read disruption to them. In a fight against Ethelon and Malicia. Stonewalls, full demesne, then barrier is threw up. He can set chasm up and his demesne will keep her down. Geos have a stun that goes through protection and note noone else gets one of thier 'prime hinderers' being swarm for druids and jellies for aquas. That can keep her busy long enough for him to tank that '12' seconds

Read my post above where I have outlined a realistic scenario. There just isn't enough time to do hit them, read disruption, and tumble out of the room.
