if malicica is smart about it, she can put judgements in there with her offence to keep the mage from having enough power to chasm, at which point she can do a multitude of things.

Also, whats the minimum time limit on inquisition, and does being inquisitioned (or stunned) stop chasm?

I don't know, but unless someone has tested it and tried it (which i can say for cetain that you haven't) then you can't rubbish it.

Honestly mate, i'm not ripping on you here but i'm suggesting things to TRY for next time.

Malicia knows my good intentions do'nt you darl!

I'm getting used to sacraments. I've learned how horribly costly the abilities are, (mana/power) but not much else! Either way, judge wouldn't stop chasm. Chasm finishes even if the geo dies. Secondly, in this situation, Athana's webwhoring wouldn't have gave me a solid 5-8 seconds to pull off judge.

Murphy2006-01-12 04:34:32
yeh not a lot you can do against a competant mage and a webwhore...

are you sure chasm finishes if the geomancer dies? I've played more race-the-chasm games than anyone, and the mage ALWAYS loses the chasm when they die.
Unknown2006-01-12 05:29:47
Who is just going to sit there as the Geomancer raises stonewalls?
Terenas2006-01-12 09:25:56
As far as I know, a Mage cannot leave the room even with his own barrier up, so I doubt gusting/tackle would take them out of the room.

I also think the myrtle thing was intentional, it heals blindness/deafness off of herb balance, but only those two. So you could eat pennyroyal to cure stupidity, then myrtle to cure blindness while off herb balance, but not the other way around.

Locked channels are pretty much impossible to take down against anyone with a vial of Tetrodin. No matter how fast you hit, you cannot strip deafness faster than someone with it. The upside is someone with mindseye up can still be read to, even if he is deaf. Thus your best bet might to just whore niricol/ibululu.

Yes, her 5p skill is going to power-run someone else's 3p skill. Oh wait, 5p > 3p. My bad smile.gif
Murphy2006-01-12 12:09:41
if the mage has just barried and is using his last 3p on a chasm, while malicia has 10p, she's on the positive side of the power curve for long enough to dispatch the mage.

in your world, maybe, but I don't think you can rely on that to fix things. The mage just has to hinder long enough to regen 3p and try chasm again: whilst Malicia needs to regen 5p and not use lunge. I think the Mage still wins.

I'll test it with an aqua later or something, thanks.

malicia can still win without using power if she knows what she's doing.

Also, malicia has 2 judgements up her sleeve....i'm suggesting things she could do here, the mage themselves aren't always going to do the right thing. I'm not saying my suggestions are perfect, but they are worth a try...a lot of the time you can win just by doing something different and unexpected

Gusting does work. The mage can't walkout, but he can be gusted out. I've tested it before I mentioned it.

Nothing
Your options for leaving a room in total
Ghost
Leap
Sprint
Roll
Tumble
Fly
Burrow
Climb

Ghost: Only available to mags... and well mag is the one using the cheapshot at the moment so this is out of the question
Leap: stopped by barrier
Sprint: Same as above
Roll/tumble: same as above
Fly: Yes but geo/aqua demesnes pull to ground and geyser/hexagram stops this
burrow: Taint wyrms pull up
Climb: Taint demesne. No trees
245437

Ghost doesn't go through barrier. I speak from experience, having been barriered in by a team in the Inner Sea once. (You can't leave as a soul, either, so I liched and died twice.)

Damn if i would read this earlier maybe i would not die to Kaervas, Athana, Ethelon. Question wich of them have put barrier up?

Well, you have time for three gusts. Gust each once and hope it works on the right one! Lusternian Barrier Roulette.
Murphy2006-01-13 01:10:16
i know, why not just gust the chasmer first.

Then gust kaervas sine he's more likely because of his tankiness

245862

Does size mean that you resist gust? if so, Kaervas just sets size to 18 or bigger and chasm's. Webbing doesn't stop chasm. And if there's a stone/icewall..

I've tried a lot of your suggestions in combat Murphy. None of them have improved anything. About the only thing I haven't tried is going Aslaran: but I won't do that without a Cameo.

Still, I think you're over-estimating how useful Judge is. All the mage(!) has to do to stop judgement is web, IIRC.
Shiri2006-01-13 01:50:03
So if you can gust a mage out through barrier, can you sip anatine and gust yourself out?
Murphy2006-01-13 05:00:32
that is just crazy enough to work shiri.

Morik, those suggestions i gave you rely somewhat on speed and wounding, what weapons are you using currently?
