It's also one of my pet hates that people can change race so easily and conveniently, especially because there is so much conflict based on racial superiority and prejudice.

And it's incorporated into the fabric of the source material in so many other ways.
The elves did this. The dwarves did that. The aslaran did the other.
On paper, hardly a community exists that isn't racially based.
In practice, getting a racially based community going is a monumental task to say the least.

I've never understood why reincarnating into a race that is better for combat is automatically classified as "Bad RP". What if it's one of your chararacter's major goals to be as good a fighter as he can, and this overreaches his racial loyalties?

Did I say reincarnating was a bad role-play decision? No.
Would I say having reincarnation as an option has a monumentally bad effect on role-play? Yes.
What I actually said was cohesive racial groups are beastly hard to form, and held up reincarnation as a primary reason why.
What I tried to imply is that breaking promises the moment they become inconvenient is deplorably stinky, and that in my personal experiences with Lusternia the two subject overlap.

I'm actually going to agree with this.
And what did Ialie do to her cameo?
Ialie2006-01-19 03:04:48
Since everyone is curious.
I got a cameo and had the appearance changed. I had my own little private rp event that someone had found the cameo and given it to me but it was cursed and it changed me and so on.
It doesn't look like your everyday cameo. Ialie thought it was just a gift but it wasn't Since she was born a faeling she considers herself a faeling always inside. The fact that she has a cameo doesn't change her race.
an onyx cameo
Dangling from a dark green ribbon is a stone cut from pure, polished onyx. A filigree of frost upon ivy has been carved and lined with silver, appearing raised over the dark gem. Delicate leaves of translucent emerald in silver twine around each other to cradle a single tear of summer at their heart. Though otherwise pristine, time has painted a flowing patina of colour across much of the filigree, the play of available light occasionally pulling strange shapes from within the tangled leaves.

I pledge for my character to remain an Aslaran.
Anyway, I like Cameos. The last time I saw someone RP their cameo abilities, I really enjoyed watching it. I plan on buying one in the distant future. I already have a nice story and a ritual to go along with it.
Now, I'm that I'm excited, I really want to buy the credits now!
