Marriage has been made an investable Order power. What this means is
that Gods can now give the power to marry (in the sense of making the
two wed rather than wedding them themselves) other mortals to members of
their Order. For this to happen at least ONE of the those to be wed must
either be in the same Order as the person who is performing the marriage
or in the city/commune that the Order's God is aligned to.

Happy acquiring of balls and their respective chains!

Subj: The Divine of Lusternia

Over the next few weeks or so, you may find that gods have more in-role
powers. While it is true that gods in Lusternia are fallible and have
limited powers, they still have abilities and knowledge far and above
anything mortals can imagine. Surely it is the height of stupidity for
mortals to show disrespect in the presence of these beings. For those
mortal players who think that being contemptuous or rude or
disrespectful in the presence of gods is "funny" or "acceptable
roleplaying" or whatever it is that prompts this sort of behavior, be
warned that gods are now free to "remove the gloves" and take
disrespectful mortals to task. Though gods will not go out of their way
to harass mortals, certainly they won't hold back if a mortal acts
without at least a semblance of respect when in their presence. You have
been warned.

Also, orders and shrines will be getting an overhaul in the coming
weeks, so be prepared for some changes. (Don't bother the gods with
asking what changes are forthcoming, be patient and find out.)

Yay! I can't wait to see what they'll be adding. Maybe we can hope to see more semblance of Clerics in an IRE realm!

Veonira2006-01-18 00:17:00
Oooh, I can't wait to see about the Order changes also.

I think this is a good move; I never felt like the gods were really feared/respected as much as they should have been.
Verithrax2006-01-18 00:18:56
What, now when Elcyrion makes one of his jokes, I'm not allowed to throw a comeback at him anymore? tongue.gif

Kidding. Anyway, I'm happy to see this. I always wanted Orders to be more involved, and a bigger part of the game.
Unknown2006-01-18 00:22:50
Cool!

I've always wished the Gods didn't have those 'gloves' anyway and would lay the Godly smack-down on some folks.

I hope they get really creative with it too.
Unknown2006-01-18 00:23:09
I know Order changes have been on the cards for a while now, this should be interesting smile.gif.
Shamarah2006-01-18 00:24:27
Awesome! I can't wait to see what kinds of powers the shrines get and also can't wait for worldburn to be removed. smile.gif
Diamondais2006-01-18 00:27:06
Changes to Orders and Shrines should be cool for those in em, I like the marriage idea though. Less work for the Gods.

And for some, Gods arent that respected. People put it down to their RP of being hateful to the organization of that Gods, but really theres just no excuse.
Stangmar2006-01-18 00:32:06
Yeah, i always think insulting a god is pretty much just like this:

RandomIdiot shouts, "Hey you! The big one over there that could kill me with the blink of an eye! YOU SUCK censor.gif!"

Totally exciting! Can't wait to see the changes!
Nymerya2006-01-18 01:05:40
*cry* I'm... so... happy. I've been waiting for this marriage thing for so long. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

And I suppose the other changes are okay too? =P
Malicia2006-01-18 01:10:46
God I hope they get rid of truefavours. sad.gif
Acrune2006-01-18 01:14:03
Very exciting. Now, to get Celest some gods! biggrin.gif

Estarra, Lisaera, Roark, etc:

I was wondering how defiling fits into this new policy. Is a God free to avenge his or her shrines?
Unknown2006-01-18 01:44:52
I think Fain has given Disfavors in the past for defiling, so there's precedent.

As a former Fain servant and now esteemed defiler, he's really quite tolerant. I think I got a disfavor for when I defiled 15 shrines in 4 hours, but that was the first in a really long time.
Unknown2006-01-18 01:48:45
I'm glad to see this area is being revised and updated, looks like we're in for some wonderful surprises. smile.gif

I must admit, however, I don't like the sound of Gods becoming freer to enter into mortal conflicts. As I've had a lot of experience in, it is very easy for a God to place themselves between an enemy and their followers, leaving the enemy the choices of either abandoning interaction with their intended targets or trying to maintain their beliefs in the face of a God who can just incinerate them instantly.

It also makes it far, far more difficult to determine what is administrative intervention, and what is based on the IC actions of the God.

But hopefully whatever changes come they will make these concerns irrelevant. happy.gif

They probably shouldn't care unless you dust a large number in a short time, then they might react, however not with excessive force. Obviously everything is judged as it happens, and we rely on the good judgement of our Gods to remain within the spirit of the rules rather than laying down set-in-stone laws (about most things, anyway).
Narsrim2006-01-18 01:50:15
Thanks, just wanted to check. I'm not a big fan of defiling, but it does really irk me when Order members just start worldburning when you are for example trying to bash in the Catacombs. It bascially boils down to if you want to bash - you defile.
