I'm not proposing we trade in demesnes for groves (I can picture the entire playerbase going 'DUH' at the same time reading the announce...) I'm just commenting on how Groves in Achaea have a lot of flavour and RP value, while Demesnes do not. In fact, I see more interesting RP value and coolness in Knighthood than in Druidry (You can get weapons that look cool. You can even get them customized.) And that bugs me; demesnes are a really original, interesting concept. Maybe it just doesn't work in a MUD, or maybe it's a problem with execution rather than planning, but I think demesnes would be far less boring if they actually had some permanence, meaning, actually mattered besides being combat tools. I also think that, as most of the playerbase, including non-mages but specially mages and druids, hates demesnes or at least isn't satisfied with the way they work, according to the forums (Which are just as statistically accurate as any random sampling, and most of the experienced important players read them anyway). So I do think they need at least a reworking, or a complete replacement, since they're detracting from the fun of combat, and PvP, as much as I hate to admit it, is what draws a lot of people into Lusternia.

As rare as this is, I completely agree. That's exactly what I meant.

While you provide some superficial points, the context of applying Groves to Lusternia isn't considered. For example:

Aprox. 1/3 of Achaea is forest-terrain. Lusternia is far far far less. As a result if Groves were introduced, there would need to be major forest expansion. If you consider ever single Hartstone novice so far, it would easily cover every room in Serenwilde and Ethereal Serenwilde.

Achaea, i'm not sure about Imperian and Aetolia, also had the Wilderness, which you could grove into, in the wilderness forest areas, though there whern't many, they were still there for some.

The fact that 1/3 of achaea is a a forest is a superficial point as there was almost no reason to enter it, you could get practially everywhere without resorting to forest travel unlike avoiding a druids demense which could be (almost) anywhere.

I agree completly with you that groves were powerfull and Im saying I dont really want to see something like that repeated where forestals are unbeatable in their lands but no one ever goes there or needs to go there because of this.

And I also very much agree with the fact that you cant apply the concept of groves to lusternia thats what I had in fact actually said if you reread the post sweety

QUOTE(Ferlas)
Lusty druids can just pop their demense up anywhere they like so you cant really compare groves to a demensc as a demense is mobile and very usefull which means they become unavoidable in group combat.

But Im still new and ive not seen the legendary 200 room demensce on astral yet, O well.
