The Fates are posers, that's what they are. If they hadn't been so damn ambiguous with their prophecies, this whole mess would've been averted (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go read the story of the Taint wars.) tongue.gif

If they had explicitly told Ladantine, 'No'... would he not have gone? If they'd wanted to stop the Taint, they could just have snipped the threads of the Cosmic Hope Expedition. Fortunately for us, the Fates seem to give us some element of free-will.

More than just 'some element' - it seems to me that they enforce free will as best they can. Others cannot control how we act because the Fates have taken away the one true fear. They also allow us to manifest the powers of the Divine Shard within us by stepping through the Portal of Fate and gainin immortality. To me, well, to Shorlen, this makes them manifestations of free will more than anything else. Calling them the Fates is almost ironic in that light.

I wonder if the fates care about the taint or not. They forgive tainted people as well as untainted people.
I think they just didn't have any interest or reason to stop Cosmic Hope or anything else smile.gif

You are clearly not a Nihilist. tongue.gif

Kethuru and the Soulless are as much a part of the Weave of Creation as anything else, the Fates have no reason to care whether the Taint exists or not.

To me, the fates care about some sort of cosmic story, such-and-such was going to happen, so when asked about it they gave answers specifically vague enough, but truthful as to not change what would happen.

My idea seems to be backed up by the "pray for salvation" text "sister we can not cut this thread now, I would be sorely grieved to tie up the rest, look here, and here, and there, he still has things to do" ...or something to that effect, I haven't prayed for about a week so I can't remember the text. (no, Murphy this is not me asking you to randomly kill me until I pray)

To me that says that they are preserving some sort of cosmic future timeline, and even possibly fit in multiple/all times at once.

Edit:Then again my charactor really doesn't care about messing with or testing out the fabric of creation, and in fact would rather not, as it might end up messing with nature as it has in the past, so I don't have any outlet for such ideas other then here.
