Daganev2006-01-31 01:05:59
try nexus...

then call your broadband company.
Luthe2006-01-31 01:09:14
already tried nexus, its a little better but not alot, i called techsupport since i'm at my dorm and they said there should be no problem

Try it from another computer/outlet and see what happens and then let us know.
Daganev2006-01-31 01:17:18
Check if your roomates are downloading torrents. Those lag me badly.
Luthe2006-01-31 01:26:36
just tried my neighbors, the buildings wireless and our lounges none of them worked. The weird thing is everything else works fine, downloading, internet, just not the mud stuff

edit- and i have no roomates

check port 23, maybe its clogged with dust bunnies.
Unknown2006-01-31 01:30:38
Then I'd say the port Lusternia runs through is not fwding very well smile.gif.
Luthe2006-01-31 01:31:19
and how do i check it?
Unknown2006-01-31 01:38:11
Ring tech support and ask them if port 23 is open or not and see if they can forward connections from www.lusternia.com through port 23 to your computer?
Luthe2006-01-31 01:39:06
they are closed now
Luthe2006-01-31 01:45:23
i just tried to ipconfig in the start menu but it automatically closes so i can't even look at it
Unknown2006-01-31 01:48:47
Wierd. Are you on your own computer or is it a campus pc?
Luthe2006-01-31 01:52:58
its my laptop
Unknown2006-01-31 02:50:31
Well I'm stumped.
Daganev2006-01-31 03:31:32
you can't run ipconfig from the start menu, you have to run Command, and then run ipconfig.

Also, check your firewall stuff and and the windows firewall, and try opening port 23 specficially.
Tiran2006-01-31 05:27:45
Checking port 23 isn't likely to do a lot of good, since that's defined as the port for inbound telnet connections only. Outbound connections will use a random port, usually with 5 digits.

That being said, the firewall could be messing with the connection still, but it won't be as simple to track down. One of the first things I do in this situation is restart the computer, and hopefully that kills a bunch of your network traffic. Otherwise, it could be that the systems you're getting routed through between there and lusternia are having problems, which you can't do much about.
Unknown2006-01-31 05:36:40
You could always totally shutdown the firewall and try, that would at least give an idea as to whether that is messing with it or not.

Also, try to connect outside of college if you can. Take your laptop to a friend's place, plug into their broadband and see if you are still having problems. That will tell you if it is a problem with your PC or the College's broadband configuration.

Ok, our tech support has really crappy wirewalls on our system, we got a virus in our residential system so we lost our internet and my lag was caused by the slow acting virus
Unknown2006-01-31 22:28:31
Stupid techies *thwap*.
