BUGSKILL command

How about if there were a variation on the BUG command so that you can report problems with a particular skill? For example,

BUGSKILL DREAMWEAVING LEAVEBODY There is this huge bug where this thing happens and I'm like whoa, and then its like damn, and then I have to pray.

And the benefit being that everyone can BUGSKILLS to see a list of which skills have bugs reported on them. Not the specifics of what it is, but just that there are problems. For instance:

BUGSKILLS
There are complications pending related to the following skills:
* Combat
---- Shieldstun (2 bugs)
* Discernment
---- Lipread (1 bug)
---- Powermask (1 bug)
* Dreamweaving
---- Leavebody (2 bugs)
---- Unite (6 bugs)

I know it could be abused, but so can any administrative function. At least this way we can see what bugs remain unaddressed relating to certain skills (I assume they would be deleted only when fixed or proved inappropriate), without the admin having to post about which skills should be used with caution.

Thoughts?

Could be helpful. And I'm sure it wouldn't be very hard to code.

I don't see how this would be any help at all, we already have the ability to easily find bugs regarding certain abilities, and it certainly wouldn't help you as the vast majority of bugs are woefully inaccurate and/or already fixed and/or never existed in the first place.

My intent is only to see which bugs have not yet been addressed.

Perhaps alternatively allowing us to view BUGS like we would ISSUES?

It would be helpfull when announce posts are made, and forging gets all funky suddenly.

You can't be allowed to see reported bugs, come on...
Lisaera2006-02-01 02:40:06
That makes no sense, as multiple bugs about the same issue are often combined or deleted as appropriate, you'd get totally the wrong idea about what had been fixed and what hadn't.

Of every twenty bugs submitted, only one or two will be an actual new bug, and not A. Wrong, B. Already known about, C. already fixed, so out of date, or D. not even a bug, but something that should be issued.
Unknown2006-02-01 03:22:21
Are they sorted manually to eliminate those spurious submissions before the coders actually look into the bug itself?

Edit: Kashim... if it works like ISSUES you would only see the bugs you yourself had submitted. But Lisaera pointed out that they are deleted/shifted frequently which would give the wrong impression.
Narsrim2006-02-01 03:43:01
I'd like the BUGS command that is present in Aetolia. This just shows you a list of bugs you have submitted. As stupid as it sounds, I can't always remember if I've bugged something... and being able to check and say, "Oh, I already bugged this so I shouldn't do it again" was always useful for me.

Why is your statement made with such a degrading attitude? There are plenty of bugs that are found and seem to take forever to be addressed. It is also hard for people to tell if a bug is fixed, if there is no feedback on the issue. Last, it is next to impossible to consider a bug fixed when the person sees the bug pop up over and over, even when it was reported that the bug was addressed.
Lisaera2006-02-01 16:23:42
It wasn't intended to be "degrading". I expressed failure to see how this system would help either party (the administration, the players), and gave my reasons for doubting it. The reasons are all facts - they're not snipes, nor opinions, they're simply the way things are.

I agree in that I don't think this idea would be particularly handy, but as I've said before, it would be really nice if the admins took the time to let us know bugs are fixed, instead of us just having to test, and finding out that yes, using that skillset still kills you when its not supposed to.
Lisaera2006-02-02 16:08:40
I happen to agree with that, and it is my personal inclination to want to post a lot to show all the stuff that is getting fixed/changed, but it is an endless debate in every administration I know of whether it is better to do so or not for a number of reasons.

In case it wasn't clear, I am firmly on the side of more rather than less. wink.gif
