So, in an attempt to prove myself wrong and 'be fair' to the Microsoft goblins they are, I downloaded and installed the thing. Know what? Ho hum, another MMOG but it's a side scroller. Good for killing time, but that's about it. Basically newbie-unfriendly after you leave the newbie area, and while the sidescroller thing is interesting, it's nothing revolutionary.

You shouldn't leave the newbie area until you are at the level required to job change. The spawn in the newbie area (Maple Island) is higher than Victoria Island and it's less crowded.
I want someone to play on Windia.
btw: for those that want to get into MapleStory:
If you don't like grinding over and over again... don't. You'll not be getting more than .04% exp per monster almost every level between... 1-35.

If you turn off j-script on Firefox/Opera, the page will load perfectly fine.

NINJAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Started on...Wednesday? Thursday? Magician aiming for ice/lightning, lvl 10. I have a friend who plays it, so it's tolerable. But so many hackers O.o
Grind is like Lusternia, but with uber respawn times
Might not see me around until either I get really addicted or really bored of MapleStory. The Hallifax quest still makes me angry.

I really need to find out what Lastrites looks like.

Okay, I tried plyaing today only to see a lot of hackers in it. This is one of the pics.
Very sad...
EDIT:
The hacking used here is drawing every monster from the map to that particular area.

There are a lot of hackers. And seeing the number of experience points you need to gain gets a bit discouraging after level 60+
Unknown2007-03-18 14:32:34
I used to play and left because of all of the hackers, I had a lvl 50+ Fire mage I was getting closer to being able to wear my lvl 60 gear, but I can't be bothered to check what exact lvl.
What used to happen is that there was a hacker, you could report them, they would get warned, and the third time they would get banned. (Already this tells you they're soft on violations to their rules, most games ban for the first offence of a third-party system messing with their game.) Anywho the hackers found a way around that, and now they stand just outside of the visible part of the map and suck all the monsters up there, they get God Mode as well, and it's all in a bot system on top of that. (can't see them, can't click on them, can't report them, so the GM's sit on their butts doing nothing, because they dont 'know' about it.)
Mainly all these idiots need to do is get caught twice, and then never bot again with that specific character. Their disciplinary measures are a joke.
If that wasn't bad enough, they don't do enough to prevent it, the exact same cheating system has been in use for about the last 6 months or so. I checked back recently just on the off chance the hackers were gone. Well they are still around, so it's really not something I'm interested in anymore.
The worst part is the hackers leave a semi-permanent scar on a map, once they've botted the monsters stay up there, just outside the map, even after they're gone, until the next time the game crashes and resets or gets shut down for another patch. Or if someone else hacks to get them back on the map.
All in all it's a whole bit steaming heap of disappointment on what could be a nice place to divert your attention for a while.

I understand the fustration of the game, to get to high levels, but whats the point of hacking a game like that? There doesn't seem to be much to the game save killing more mobs with bigger hit dice.
Its not like there is a story, that finishig the quests gives you.

Why did you feel the need to necro a year old thread?
