Just like I do.
And it's not -full- of bugs. The only bug I've seen is the "unknown" bug, when you view an unknown card it crashes the client. Der is going to fix this though, the next patch/update should take care of it, as well as get us some neat features, like more quests.

The regular RO has a lot more content (and better spelling) than ProjectRO. So I'm using the free 15 days they give you and will then probably redownload ProjectRO and play that for a awhile till I once again feel the need to purge my computer of most programs
Shamarah2006-02-24 00:13:35
The ProjectRO installer doesn't work, it tells me to read the licence agreement, I do, and... the next button never becomes enabled.
Richter2006-02-24 00:16:28
You guys come across the wierdest installation problems... The only suggestion I have is http://www.projectro.deltaanime.net/sakray/index.php?act=idx
Shamarah2006-02-24 00:26:02
Never mind. It wanted me to click an almost invisible circle in the bottom-right coner of the installer
You're all on Sakray, right?

Right.
Shamarah2006-02-24 01:04:15
I see nothing to do now. I made a Swordsman and then it put me in some little town and there's nowhere to go.
Richter2006-02-24 03:03:53
Go south and start killing stuff to level a bit. /noctrl turns autohit on. Once you get some items, you can sell them to the tool guy left of the fountain in Prontera, the town you started in. Start upgrading your equipment in the store northeast of the fountain. Once you get job level 10, go to the job changer southwest of it, and then make good with the kafra agent north of the fountain, she can teleport you to other cities and dungeons, I suggest Payon dungeon level 1.
Cwin2006-02-24 03:33:59
Note: Assuming pRO is anything like iRO
Most items dropped, by the way, are 'useless*' and can be sold. In fact, that's sort of RO's version of monsters dropping gold. Note I say Most: Learn FAST about the rares here, since some of the weaker creatures drop some rare nice stuff (that either you or someone else can sell).
Quick tip: The player merchants in and around the cities make a good way to find out what's worthwhile.

that... and there are certain items that if you wear them you become unable to use your charactor untill you contact a GM and have them fix it.
Richter2006-02-24 07:13:40
Mostly unknown items... I haven't run across anything like that though.

I spent maybe 15 minutes trying to figure that out. The bastards.

Ye gods, it I had every problem in the book. I couldn't find that button even when I knew it was there. I couldn't connect to the server and THEN I got the 'unregistered ID' issue. It's all solved now.
First impression: wow this place is odd. Creatures inside Prontera. Most of the cities empty (I'm used to wall-to-wall merchants).
Then I actually went out and fought.
I made the mistake of heading to Orc dungeon and doing the old Teleport -> cart rotation move. Did you know that if no one is around to kill the zombie orcs that there's a good 200+ that ends up there? I'm afraid to look at Clock tower.
On the other hand, the same thing works WELL in Ant Hell. I already have more honey than I know what to do with AND a vitae card. A VITAE CARD! I now have a 65/1 Blacksmith and I've been playing for only 4 HOURS!
What a rush.
I wasn planning on becoming an alchemist until I noticed the sheer lack of blacksmiths selling elemental weapons. I say a nice Agi battlesmith with some forging power will easily fund any other characters I want.
I even was able to snatch the names i wanted. Acolyte Jacquin and Blacksmith Cwin, if anyone's looking for me (though if you do, don't be slow. I like to MOVE and ACT in games like this)
Oh yes.. things will go well here.

I've only found one card the entire time I've been playing.
Cwin2006-02-24 20:47:54
Most cards have a .001% chance of dropping in servers without a bonus. As such, if Raezon's correct, you end up with a .002% chance in Sak. That's, if I'm getting my numbers right, 2 cards out of every 100,000 killed.
....
Wow...
I don't need it at the moment, but I'm not sure how to price anything, so I'll probably set it up on shop for 10mil (when you don't know how to price, Rip Them Off. ).
As it is, it's probably going to be the only card I'll ever find.

www.gamefaqs.com for in depth info. Also try www.roempire.com
And cards usually sell as follows (general info from what I've seen from player merchants):
Lame cards: 300k-700k
Medium cool cards: 1m or so
Rarer cards: 2m-3m
MvP cards: Never seen one sold. I'm guessing 5m+
Note that you can buy cards from donating money to the server, kind of like this:
Lame cards: $5
Medium cool cards: $10
Rarer/more useful cards: $15
MvP cards: $130

Ok, VERY rough basics of the of the classes I know about:
Wizard: hefty spellcaster. Weak physically but KILLS with massive sized spells. Not much customization. Fastest leveling class after learning a few tricks (i.e. vertical firewall).
Sage: Can be made to support others, or, though difficult, can be made to 'melee' (it's odd but cool).
Blacksmith: Big bruising damager or creater of weapons (or a little of both).
Alchemist: More defensive Damager, and a maker of potions.
Assassin: FAST hitting, but expensive, foo'. Comes in defense-ignoring Critical and faeling-speed-knightish flavors.
Rouge: Most flexable and 'neat' of the crew with nice utility moves and a variety of different styles.
Hunter: People complain endlessly about how much damage a hunter can do at a distance.
Dancer/Bard: When you want to be a Support character but don't want to be the 'typical Support'
Priest: When you want to be a Support character that everyone loves having around. Note that this one make may you hate Humanity.
Monk: Three flavors: flashy fast combo, high-damage distance hitter, or OMG-YOU-SUK-NURF-NURF instakill user.
Note that these are the stereotypical examples of them. For example, Priests can work well as a Battlepriest.
As for builds, your build will HIGHLY depend on the class you choose to be, right down to the very first points you choose. The overall basics:
Str: Primary damage stat. If you're melee, you WILL want this HIGH at the end. If you aren't, leave it alone mostly.
Dex: Accuracy, casting speed, and bow damage. Melee won't need too much (20 by around L30 and not much more for a long while). Bowists want this HIGH. Wizards can let this go till near the end, then go HIGH.
Int: Similar to Lusternian Int. Spellcasters want this HIGH. Rest..blah.
Luck: Unless you know what you're doing, don't touch this. Handle with care.
Now lastly:
Agi/Vit: The defensive stats.
Agi: Handles the ability to dodge and the speed of your attacks. Builds that focus on this end up a good NPC killer, since they can fight a creature without getting hurt and kill said creature fast. The downsides are that Players can counter Agi with equipment and that large monster numbers hurt.
Vit: Handles the max health, damage taken, and health regen (both naturally, and potions) as well as ailment protection. Focus here creates a tank, capable of standing up to monster bosses, groups, and players. Most PvP builds are 'vit builds' with the focus here. On the other hand, your attacks are slow and, as such, they are more bothersome to level (sidenote: some of the 'hardcore PK builds' cannot be leveled solo). Also, these builds require power armor, which is rather expensive.
(sidenote: a build that focuses on a defensive stat will have a little of the other stat, but not much. 90 Agi and 30 Vit, or 90 Vit and 50 Agi for example)
A build will usually focus on an attack stat (Which could be Str, Dex, Int, or in some cases, Luck) and a defensive stat (Agi or Vit) with a smaller spred of other stats. For example, a fast-attack Hunter would have a high Dex and Agi, while a PvP Battlesmith would be Str and Vit. More complex builds will not be so focused, but they are harder to make without messing up. The best example are 'hybrid' builds that attempt to use Agi AND Vit at the same time: they are powerful, but EASY to screw up or just get frustrated with.
As you can probably tell, I used to spam up the RO boards about as bad as I spam up the Lusternian ones.
