I agree as well, Guilds/Communes/cities should be able to buy ships with their amassed gold, and have it officially be "owned" by the org and maneged by the GM/CM...
We've done just that. And while the Manse is officially in my name... I'll simply transfer it to the next Guildmaster as and when I'm contested and lose/decide to resign. You can set perms to the Command Chair according to Guild rank...
Jerah2006-02-10 10:21:11
The problem with that solution is that the first GM who gets his petty on after losing an election steals your ship. I mean... that's just a bit too risky for a guild to spend millions on, ain't it?

A GM who knows their going to lose the election can always take all the guild credits/funds and run. Not much different, really.

Oo. Are you back?
Kaervas2006-02-10 14:13:19
They should make it so ships/clans can be assigned to cities/guilds to stop annoyed leaders or anyone stealing them from a city/guild.

YEA!
We lost one clan when Aether suicided, and now maelon is inactive and we cant get back second guild clan.
Time to buy third.

I'm thinking I should make all of Serenwilde's clans democratic just in case something weird happens like my power gets cut, or I get shot, or my house burns down or something, and I can't get back. That'd be like 2 million gold or something. That's probably good insurance against that sort of thing. Anyone that does something retarded like contesting for a guild clan without contesting for GM can just be kicked out and enemied. W/e.
Soll2006-02-10 15:20:18
What we really need is something like.. Half-Democratic or Semi-Democratic, in which you are able to contest for leader of the clan if, and only if, the current leader has been inactive for ~30 days. Would mean stuff like this can't happen.

beg your patron to transfer them or make them democratic.
I make all new guild clans democratic. Doesn't stop you handing them over to someone else, and no guild member is going to contest stupidly or they'll get in serious poo.

Question, is there anyway to deactivate modules for placement elsewhere in the manse

No, but since manse owners can rearrange their rooms and redescribe them fairly easily, I don't see a reason wny you would need to.

Can't change which room is the fulcrux. If I had a 1 room manse and turned it into a ship, my command chair would be stuck permanently in the fulcrux from then on.
Ialie2006-02-11 03:11:45
WHat happens if you destroy a room that the thingies are in?

This is exactly why I'm waiting until I can afford another room AND an egg to do it.
Narsrim2006-02-11 06:47:10
Why does it matter if the commander chair is at the fulcrux room?
Sylphas2006-02-11 06:51:28
Because I don't want people entering the command center of my ship whenever they show up, I want them popping up on the deck. Not having it in the fulcrux gives me a lot more options for design. Plus the fact that in the distant future when I can actually afford it, I'm putting in a shop so I can have a cargo hold, and having your cargo hold on the bridge of your ship is silly.

Aye, it's set up like any other manse arti, hopefully people are planing out their ships instead of randomly placing things in random rooms though.

Cause usually you don't enter into the command room of a ship? I don't know.. but something just seems wrong to me about it.
Sylphas2006-02-11 08:03:05
I'm curious; what are people going to specialize in? I'll probably go Commander, because I'll be flying the ship most of the time, especially if there's no one else around to crew it. Are most people who actually own ships thinking that way, or are they just going with whatever is coolest?
