Back to Common Grounds.

Hmm, so the way it sounds: This is heavily an Explorer/group tool, rather than a nation/conflict one. I can instantly see it as solving a good many matters:

What to do when everything else is explored/done

How to get the high level people off the regular areas (Yay! Now get off my Krokani whip.gif)

How to push conflict into the planes (Apperently, not only will attacks be possible on other ships, but just imagine the insanity once someone finds a bubble that makes old Astral look unappealing: Not only will a fight REALY count (since the losers would have to travel ALLL the way back, and running away would be difficult too) but there's also no Avechna)

How to make credits more availible. (Does this mean I'll be able to get 2k credits again? YAY! )

And a batch of other things I can't think of.

As for myself.. something tells me I might never get to go on a ship; I havn't even transed my first skill yet, already have more than enough on my plate just dealing with Prime (darn needy guild tongue.gif), and given Jacquin's reaction to the concept, I'm not sure she could be coaxed into getting into one of those things except when ordered. If things go the way they go though, I think I'll be seeing a good many benifits coming my way in any case. smile.gif

Idea: There MUST be a way for a ship to suck power from..somewhere...LOTS of power, and bring it back to a Nexus. Not from other Nexuses though (I like the idea of not making this a nation on nation thing) but..say, nodes floating around with 500 power or so.

Idea--you can buy an "escape pod" or something that you can put in a room and then get transported quickly back to someplace like the Portal of Fate.

Have some denziens occasionally want to raid a dock--you get an alert and have to defend the community, otherwise if they get to the dock they'll invade your city and you'll have to melee with them--Gorgogs (or worse) in Serenwilde, anyone?

Since these ships are living creatures, I think Empaths might be more for calming them, or communicating with other ships. I wonder what could happen if a ship went insane? (Also if there are places in the Aetherspace that cause insanity...hmm...)

I would like to see unique commodities on other bubbles, making it good for trade. Perhaps a special ingredient to make exotic food, some sort of new type of metal, or something akin to that. That would make it vital for economic use.

How about tourists from friendly spheres. Like the scholar or pilgrim quests, you bring some people back in a ship to tour your city, adding to the culture score as a tourist nation.

Verithrax2006-02-04 11:55:49
Rare resources or minerals only availiable through the Aether would be great. I want to run a trade ship!
Narsrim2006-02-04 11:56:16
I want to sink a trade ship and loot it!
Shryke2006-02-04 11:57:19

Sylphas2006-02-04 12:00:50
I want credit prices to not bottom out before I get paid, so I can actually afford a ship.

Me, Diamante, and KIND OF Athana and Astrasia, but I'm not sure if they're saying.

As for the OTHER crew...we already have two of them...but I'll announce that to Serenwilde later. ninja.gif

This is a great addition. Lots of fun!

You do not need a manse with a battle turret, and an empath, etc. I hooked up Ekard and my one room manse with just the egg and was able to travel extremely fast through the aether with no problems. It was kind of cool discovering three bubbles while people were still figuring out how to use a battle turret! Being able to sacrifice defense for speed is nice.

Of course, you can't actually stop at vortexes to siphon power or anything like that but for getting around and exploring, don't need too much. I had no troubles getting back either. I think allowing any sort of teleportation or instant transportation would really destroy the whole point. If you want to move around quickly, get a fast ship or hire someone who has a fast one to just get you from place to place.

It's official, we will have Pirates soon enough...

Now all we need is Ninjas...
Nokraenom2006-02-04 13:06:06
Nokraenom, the Aetherpirate (Male Undead Human).
...
He is a member of the clan called 'The Aether Pirates.'

this sounds really really neat!
my question though is about turrets, how are they supposed to work? are they like guns, as people had been describing before? if so, i want to be a professional aetherturret gunner!
Unknown2006-02-04 13:13:57
I love it. I've got myself in as part of Elryn's crew and hope to go out again soon. Of course, we'll need to keep better track of where we go, but still. Woo.

Oh and there is no need to trans it at this stage, 30 credits is all you need to get to Master, possibly far less if you just want to operate a turret against mobs.
